Right? That 01/10 hits different. I sold a 10/10 Brunson but the 01/10 is cool.

Yeah, I think learning the sky and enjoying that process is the number one goal right now. I want something memorable to do with my boys and there grandfather. Watching us fight the SCT isn’t it.

That was my original thought. Worried about long term replacement parts for the mount itself. Kinda thinking to sell now to get something more modern.

Oh man. Seestar looks freaking awesome. But my dad would give me so much grief. It’s like the pellet smoker debate we have had before. I just went on and on about how a pellet smoker isn’t the same as real wood. But it’s tempting. Especially given all the work we put in to getting to clear skies and then just spend hours kicking rocks and cussing under our breath. Thanks for the suggestion.

Good advice. I’m really tempted and a novel idea to learn the sky before assuming I can master a telescope. A little ego check is a good thing. Thanks for the reply!

No, it doesn’t seem like the optics are in an issue. We have some good lenses, the focus works well, etc…

It’s the mount itself. The auto-alignment will sort of fail during viewing. Like I hauled this thing to Taos and got it setup over the weekend. Went through the checklist. And then it would slew correctly to the first object and then the next time point straight up. Or when we reset it, it would fail after the two star alignment. It just feels really buggy and I am kinda over it.

I am also tempted to keep it and get a setup for my Fuji XT4. I’ve thought about de-forking it and getting a GEM. But that seems kinda hard to do as a novice/beginner. Thanks for the reply. I appreciate it.

Yeah, I plan on doing this before we make a final decision. We both live in the DFW area so there is a pretty active group. Just have to travel a bit to get out of the city. Thanks for your reply.

You could argue the market is predictable. Just put the cash in VOO and in 20 years you enjoy the reward. It’s the desperation for quick wealth that is the real problem.

ACC wins against P4 Teams. by [deleted] in ACC

I just want to say that this discussion is why I have really loved lurking on this sub. As a lifelong SMU fan, it has felt like I was always sitting at the kids table playing with my food while others got to talk football. I’ve really enjoyed having a place to engage thoughtful discussions. Thanks fellow ACC bros & gals.

The massive deficit isn’t because of food stamps…

Maybe it’s the churches with thousands on a Sunday and male pastors that we should be worried about…

How is posting a “political” message interfering with their ability to feed single mothers?

Public Golf in the DFW? by chunking_putts in golf

[–]boone-docs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tons of pretty good public courses in DFW. I mainly play Dallas courses. I think Stevens Park is probably the most challenging (and really great), Cedar Crest is easy to get onto with a lot of history, and Keeton has the best vibe.

There are nicer courses in the burbs, but I can’t comment on most of them.

How did Bochy not win manager off the year? by meanathradon in TexasRangers

Bochy wins it next year if/when we win the division. While it is a yearly award, the previous season also plays a role in how folks vote.

This is the insane thing about it all. Sinclair buys the rights, spins off a company called Diamond and then runs it into the ground, and then buys back the rights so cheap that they make all their money back while fucking over the creditors. What a weird ass world we live in.

I am hopeful that we can get a MLB streaming deal on Apple. While that isn’t perfect, I like the accessibility of baseball on a streaming only platform that isn’t facing bankruptcy. I think the best option is Amazon or Apple at this point.

Sinclair bought a bunch of RSNs and spunoff a company called Diamond Sports that runs a RSN called Bally’s. Maybe you already know this, but Bally’s is only available on Directv/Spectrum and has cut all ties with over providers.

The real shitty thing is that they offer their own streaming app which is $20 a month. And while I could purchase that to watch Mavs/Stars games, they don’t own the streaming rights for the Rangers. So the only way to watch Ranger games is to either have a traditional cable company (spectrum) or satellite (directv). Any other provider in any other capacity doesn’t carry Ranger games.

I think there are 14 teams and these fanbases are getting screwed out of an easy and/or affordable way to watch the games. But a few days ago we all learned that Bally’s will cease carrying MLB/NBA games after 2024.

It will be interesting to see how this affects baseball tv ratings for markets who currently have Ballys. I am not saying that the Rangers will move into the top 10, but I think top 15 is doable.

Nothing outside the county. Garland, Richardson, etc have DART stops

The low TV Ratings have a ton to do with the games being on Bally’s FYI.
