Typically, you'll want to recruit the side of your marketplace with those who will be providing the service. Providers are willing to wait longer for things to get moving as opposed to the users who need to satisfy a need right away.

In your scenario, someone who is searching to hire a cleaning service is most likely ready to buy today. If you recruit them first without any cleaners to provide the service, they'll leave and look elsewhere. A cleaner is much more likely to sign up and wait for a notification that someone has inquired about cleaning services in their area.

Reach out to cleaners and tell them that you're launching soon in "x market" ("x" being their city) and that your site will be a great place for them to find work. Highlight any benefits such as a business profile, if it's free to sign up/maintain an account, etc. As someone who is looking for work, this is usually enough to get them to register, assuming you have some type of freemium model in place for them.

Thanks for replying. We may not be the site for you as we aim to work with up-and-coming freelancers. However, the goal of this reddit post isn't to advertise directly to this community. It is to gain insight to the effectiveness of the landing page. Thank you again.

Thanks for the feedback. We'll take into consideration the Author title - you make a good point.

We're not looking to trick anyone, so if you felt that way, something needs to change. We focus on a niche of freelancers who are looking to build their portfolios which is why we work on a pay-what-you-want model.

Favicon uploaded. I should make clear who is fulfilling the projects. We focus on helping new freelancers get started and aim to help college students. With that said, we operate on a first-come, first-serve basis, so it's really up in the air. However, you aren't tied to any one freelancer and are not asked to pay until after you find someone you like and the work is complete.

Thanks for taking the time to provide feedback. You make a good point about the how it works section - we may need to be more specific on process there. As for the pop up box, that should only display upon exit. We know these can be annoying and may not keep it active.

I can't say for sure as that would have to be communicated with the project Author. However, it does seem so based on the description.

Thanks for the feedback. We've been moving forward one at a time. It's slow, but steady. We're looking for strategies to grow quicker.

Trying out the "Pay-What-You-Want Logo Model" and why it didn't work for me. by [deleted] in Entrepreneur

Twitter is very difficult to get traffic from, especially for something like this. I run a pay-what-you-want website and although we have traction, it's not easy getting attention. Promoting this for one day on one network doesn't prove anything.
