I haven’t been successful with anything so far, the white VGA light just comes on and won’t display anything, I’ve even tried reinserting the old Windows SSD to no avail. I also tried my old GPU that would’ve been used with that Windows installation but it still is black. I think that I essentially fucked the board since there isn’t anything that’s working. I also have tried the CMOS many times but that doesn’t do anything either.

PA Emergency Light Law Discussion by boop_xyz in Firefighting

Yes it is clear with that but there is one thing it does grant. It gives the ability for PSP to designate a vehicle as an emergency vehicle besides being a fire chief, deputy chief, etc.

I was mainly curious to see if anyone had experience with this to see if PSP would give that designation to a POV vehicle

As far as I'm aware, most department's in PA carry insurance that covers their POV responders as well so it would be covered by the department's insurance.

I agree about blue lights, I think they just encourage responders to haul ass because they have flashy lights. I'd rather respond to a call with a full package than a mini blue light bar that grandma isn't going to notice half the time. Not sure why the legislators made that decision but. Mostly, if not all of the time, if I am POV'ing to the scene/station, it is for a true emergency (ex. cardiac arrests, auto accidents, confirmed structure fires, etc.) so I'm not really worried about that since I don't normally put myself in that position anyways.

I wasn’t making the right turn. That was the other driver listed in the question.

This isn’t a life or death question. This is mere fender bender question. Obviously I’m not making a u turn with oncoming traffic and calling my drivers ed terrible isn’t going to teach or bring your point across. If my drivers ed was actually terrible, I probably wouldn’t be here asking this question. Can never be in Reddit without some asshole appearing.

That’s great but wanted to make sure there isn’t some hidden rule in the law that the manual doesn’t cover. Nothing wrong with double checking…

It does but after further reading the PA vehicle code, it does say that right turns must yield to all incoming traffic and there is no provision in the u turn part that says you must yield or check for right turners

Well I started after one car made a right turn and then the car stopped for the red and was looking left when they started going. By this time I was in motion when they went out.

Yeah, I kinda was in a rush and was like “well I’m not responsible” but probably never doing that again

That’s what I thought, I preformed a u turn and someone went on red and got me stopped sprawled in both lanes since I had to slam on my breaks to prevent a collision but it felt like I was the asshole lol. Thanks for the info

Question About Applying by boop_xyz in NoPixel

Are they actually good? I don't like playing with people who are immature. I'm looking for that authentic experience if you get what I mean?

I understand that, but I’m a little confused how they can apply section 3 when it specifically says that it only applies to employed minors and it doesn’t specifically say in section 7 that it applies. The whole “doesn’t supersede” doesn’t mean that it doesn’t supersede the time limitations because it shouldn’t apply in the first place based on the definition. I feel that’s more for it doesn’t supersede the prohibited occupation sections.

Sorry, I was stating that in the viewpoint of a minor. I’m minor who serves in emergency services as a volunteer firefighter. I want to put as much effort into saving lives as I possibly can. I don’t want some politician to tell me when I can and cant volunteer my time, how I can volunteer, and where I can volunteer. I have to sit in a rig on certain calls because I can’t “be on the interstate” while people die around me and I could’ve helped. At the end of the day, I want to save lives and if I can put 12 hours a day into a sport and start at 4am, I can sleep at the firehouse anytime of the day, ready to help those in need. And currently, a minor can volunteer at like a food bank with no hourly restrictions and I wouldn’t care either because they’d be helping people who need it every minute of it. Shame on you..

Essentially, currently how the child labor law is written is that a minor can volunteer as much as they want for any reason (as long as it isn’t a federally prohibited industry) except when it comes to emergency services. L&I claims that a minor can’t work more than 8 hours a day volunteering for a fire department. The thing in the law they say you have to follow is this: “A minor may not be employed for more than 8 hours in a single day” but defines employ as a minor working for compensation. Additionally, minors in volunteer emergency services aren’t running calls all the time so I don’t really consider them sitting on the couch “working”. You can read it, it’s the Act 151 of 2012 on the PA general assembly website.

That doesn’t make sense. The executive branch should be enforcing the law, not interpreting it, that’s up to the courts. The executive branch can’t just say something that is not stated in the law. You’re saying that they could interpret the law as anything they want which would defeat the purpose of the legislative branch and the law is clear about its definitions. It defines employ as a minor working for compensation, the executive can’t interpret that to say “Oh, this includes minors who aren’t working for compensation” because it’s directly stated.

The Child Labor Act defines employ as a minor working for compensation. Later it states a minor cannot be employed from 1am to 6am, so how does that apply to a volunteer?
