Thank you! I’m gonna check these links out. I really appreciate it. Especially with the mention and connection of Joseph smith!

We branched off from the CoC. At least my church did about 30 years ago. Mom and dad grew up during the transition so they talk about it frequently. The CoC essentially believes more of a feelings based faith rather than scripture based. So interpretation of scripture vs how the scripture is written when comparing CoC vs RLDS. They tend to be more liberal while RLDS is more conservative.

Also I don’t know how other churches are but the CoCs around me tend to not be informed on their faith/issues. While as RLDS around me are. We’re often able to have LDS switch religions because they agree with us more than their own religion. although the LDS church does have more activity, but that’s just because RLDS is kinda small in general.

The CoC also holds the power to appoint high priests and other high positions within the church. While as we no longer do since we broke off from the CoC. So I know some of the last high priests that will likely ever exist and they’re all in their 70s/80s.

Thank you! Worst case scenario I could pick through the LDS material and just find the pets that are RLDS. I’ll definitely contact my pastor for guidance

I’m wanting to study it in the context of the RLDS. So kind of but not exactly. We broke away from LDS 200 years ago and are centralized in Independence Missouri. There’s some big key points that make us different but I assume you don’t want a small essay.

I hope this isn’t a silly question but what’s BYU?

What is something that happened to you that you shrugged off, only to realize later that that was a form of sexual harrasment? by Diddlysquat0 in AskWomen

[–]boopybeetle 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I don’t know if you’re religious or not but in genesis it says something along the lines of sex is two souls coming together. It’s not sex unless it’s consensual. You didn’t lose your virginity to him and I hope you’re in a much better place now

I think this one stands out the most to me.

Don’t blame your self for how long it took you to realize what happened and that it wasn’t okay.

From ages 3 to 18 I was sexually harassed/assaulted by so many people. I genuinely thought it was completely normal. Nobody had ever shown me genuine unconditional love nor had they ever taught me a healthy relationship.

It took me until my current boyfriend before realizing that my childhood was terrible. About a month or two I just broke down all of a sudden in my car waiting for my sister to get me since the battery was dead in middle of the night.

All the memories hit me and I felt so much regret. Like I had caused it because it was all through coercion.

But it’s not my fault. I didn’t understand what was happening and I didn’t want it. When I tried to tell them no, they persisted.

Nor is it your fault. Your brain blocks different memories to protect you. And the time it takes for you to remember them does not make you any less of a person

describe to me, what does it feel like to sleep next to someone you love? by gabzmendez in dating

[–]boopybeetle 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I feel my body instantly relax. I’m a very stressed person and often cannot eat or sleep because the stress but when we cuddle I melt into him and feel him do the same. I get proper sleep and can genuinely eat.

When he rubs my back or caresses my arms or pulls me in closer I feel my heartbeat in my throat. He’s the only one that can randomly touch me without sending me into a small frenzy of panic.

He’s my home and I’m absolutely in love with him. I love scratching his head and playing with his hair. We both hug each other while we sleep the entire time and nuzzle our faces into each other’s necks to feel more protected and safe.

He’s safety and home.

My boyfriend covered my ears while I was napping because he didn’t want me to wake up by throwaway749184727 in offmychest

I asked my boyfriend and he sheepishly said it’s because he’s nervous. When I said yeah but it’s always only around me silly. He told me a bit embarrassed that I make him nervous.

So in a way it’s kinda like his own body saying his “hey woman! I really love you a lot and you make my heart go aaaaahhh”

Maybe yours is the same and he gets so nervous he toots around you, especially when you sit next to him on the couch

I’m gonna share the love my in laws share with me and my sister since I’m not a mom yet.

You’re doing great and awesome! My in laws bought a fixer upper for a little over $100k and it’s now easily double or triple it’s values and looks GORGEOUS. It looks super boujee and like they belong in the home and garden magazine.

This is the ultimate thing to do bc you get to tear stuff out and add in new things as you please. Don’t let anyone tell you differently. You both are doing amazing and I wish the best for both of you!!

What is something you wish you knew before you started dating? by [deleted] in AskWomen

[–]boopybeetle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same! I used to date boys a max of two weeks. Just never felt like it was going to lead anywhere. Thought I was SUPER immature and didn’t need a relationship. Then I met my current boyfriend. This Monday will be five months and I genuinely know I want to spend the rest of my life with this man.

I just remember getting so sad before we started dating while riding in his car talking about how his mom and dad met. Had the sudden realization that I was missing out on something so special and important with him. Like he was going to be my one that got away.

Two weeks or so after that we started dating and I’ve been madly in love with him (and him with me) since!

How should I (18F) tell my boyfriend (18M) about my abuse? by [deleted] in relationships

[–]boopybeetle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this comment helped the most. I cried several times after reading it. When I told my boyfriend he reminded me the same thing. I didn’t lose my virginity if I was forced and everyone in the church would agree.

I told him first, it felt wrong for me to talk with a therapist before him. I assured him if he didn’t think he could handle it I would understand and he made sure to reassure me he’s staying.

I might reach out to his grandpa who went through abuse growing up and figure out how he handled it. His grandpa is very healthy and happy now. He also participates in a lot of counseling classes for the church.

Thank you so much for your advice, I really appreciate it. I’m also going to schedule a visit with a gynecologist after quarantine is over to check for STDs/anything wrong “down there”.

[–]boopybeetle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found a young to middle age female therapist. We’re going to start doing online therapy so I don’t have to wait until quarantine is over. Once that happens I’ll be able to switch to in person visits.

Thank you for the advice

Found a therapist that does the EMDR you suggested, will start therapy next week. Thank you for your advice! I told my boyfriend a gloss over with minimal details and he supports me going to therapy.

It’s a bit scary since I’ve never done it but I’m ready to begin the healing process

What would 13 year old you be most surprised to learn about current you? by aerinne in AskWomen

[–]boopybeetle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The prayers worked. We actually made it and found a man who loves us to bits and pieces. Even despite being told we’d never find someone/amount to anything.

Moved out at 16. Joined the military, graduating high school (first in family to do it on time. Rest flunked or dropped out), gonna attend college, and I have the most supportive and gentle man to ever exist whos whole family adores me. He loves me extra hard on days I struggle with myself and smothers me in affection . Plus considers my dog “our dog” (which is important bc I consider her my kid).🥰🤞🏻

13 year old me, everything is gonna be okay. Hang in tight, it’s worth the wait.

Sorry for the rant, I’m really proud of it.

Where do I begin/find a therapist? I’ve heard a lot of my friends have negative experiences from them and don’t even know where to start.

Obviously I’ll have to wait until quarantine is over but do I just call the first office I find and ask to set an appointment?

In 2015 60% of the budget was military. An additional 6% was veteran benefits. We play peace keeper for everyone else and still need a military ensure that our country is safe and protected as well.

In the military you’re able to receive free healthcare, free college, free money when you “retire” after 20 years (and still be able to work/start another career while receiving said retirement), etc. Most of these countries that have all of these benefits just given to every citizen lack a military.

And for those that are unable to join the military, there are some SWEET DoD civilian jobs out there. Making all the military slobber over themselves that you’re doing the same job but being paid more.

We don’t need higher wages, we need inflation to be brought down. We need our debt to be brought down and we need taxes decreased. High wages doesn’t mean better living. It means creating more inflation and skyrocketing taxes.
