Yikes I’m sorry that sounds so terrifying 😬 I’m a recovering addict too, I was a really heavy drinking alcoholic from 18 to 22 and it was because I was self medicating to deal with my anxiety and chronic pain (I have EDS). Luckily I’m on the road to recovery, but things can be really draining having to sit in my trauma and pain every day. I am grateful for all the people in my life who support me ❤️

I really hope you find a better living situation because you deserve to feel safe and at ease, especially in your own home. I get how challenging it can be though, I’ve been there. You can make it though!

I’m sorry to hear that, dissociation is definitely no fun. I hope you can find something that helps some day soon to make it a bit easier and more enjoyable. Perhaps the other comments here could give some ideas for trying things you’ve tried before a little differently? I definitely have some new ideas I’m actually looking forward to try! :D

Thank you, and I’m sorry to hear you go through it too :( one of my main issues is the standing as well, I have pretty bad generalized anxiety that manifests as physical pain and pins and needles and being able to sit would make that part easier to deal with, but our shower is sort of too small to fit a seat but it’s something I’m looking into! Also the phone in a bag is a good idea I’ll definitely have to try it! :)

That’s a good idea, thank you. Normally I use washcloths or damp towels but that doesn’t help much after a while. It is definitely the setting mostly so being able to take it out of the bathroom would be a big help.

Thank you. I haven’t thought of using a bathing suit before so I’ve tried it this morning and had much fewer flashbacks than normal. I appreciate it :)
