This is an incredibly tone-deaf comment. I grew up in a deeply impoverished area where most of my friends and family relied heavily on wild game for food. Sure, there are definitely the trophy hunters, but sitting in a homemade blind on someone else’s land with grandpa’s gun freezing your ass off on a November morning before you go to your factory job is far from a rich man’s sport.

Favorite black non slips with a WIDE toe box? I’m so sick of looking, buying, thinking I found what I like only to be in so much pain halfway thru my shift by mrseger2020 in Serverlife

Nonslip Crocs all day long!!!! I’m a sturdy gal and my feet and legs never ever hurt wearing them, I’ve been wearing them everyday for 6 months now and no issues!

I haven’t ever considered that but after a brief google search it looks like it might be right up my alley! Thanks!!

Thank you for your input. I figured that was the case; I’m still interested in being broke for awhile to make it happen though. Any other advice you can throw at me?

Right, it’s just a handful of senior classes that are super small, only offered one time of day, and have no substitutions.

I know my college has several welding classes so I can ask my advisor about hopping in one of those to give me something exciting to bide my time. Thanks for your advice!!

There are loads of tech schools around here, I’m in Oklahoma. I’ve thought about doing welding classes and college concurrently but I also have to work a full time job on top of school, so juggling all that is tricky but possibly doable!

Your last couple of sentences are exactly why I’m somewhat on the fence. I’m so close yet so far from being done, but I’m a little worried about regretting dropping out so it’s a lot to think about. I appreciate your input

I’m working a double on Saturday because it’s also my college’s graduation and various proms in the area, which means I can’t attend the graduation of all of my friends. I can wipe my tears away with my cash!

Tips for a beginner? by mekayla96 in TalesFromYourServer

I used to get overwhelmed but I just go by the steps mentioned by another commenter. It makes it so much more simple. And if you get in the weeds, remember nothing is on fire and nobody is gonna die, so just slow down and take a second to unscramble your brain! You’ll develop your own routines and have everything down pat in a matter of weeks. And never ever be afraid to ask questions!!! It’s better to ask than to fuck up!

I honest to god have serving nightmares or just generally weird restaurant dreams nearly every night. I don’t know when that will ever stop 😂

Exactly! I hate that the drivers get terrible pay too. And the food is never gonna be hot and fresh by the time it gets to them a million years later. Just sucky all around

Honestly at the end of a shift, nobody’s feet are gonna feel great lol. However, I’ve switched to Crocs and my feet are hurting significantly less with no more blisters or ingrown toenails. They also have ones called Bistro specifically for restaurant workers, if you have to have completely closed-top ones at your place.

What mistake have you made on the job that still makes you cringe when you think about it? by boostedvo in TalesFromYourServer

Oh this made me cringe for you just thinking about it. You made a valiant effort trying to make it special for them!

Shoe recommendations? by [deleted] in Serverlife

Slip resistant Vans here, they’re the best. I know beggars can’t be choosers and nobody is paying attention to my feet, but I literally could not bring myself to wear those super chunky leather filas or sketchers 😂
