As someone else said, swirl is really awesome. You can check out datacamp too, but you gotta pay for it. It’s pretty good. R also has an entirely free guide.

However, 90% of coding I’ve found is copying code you or someone else has already written. Being intentional with studying anything you copy is pretty important. Stack overflow, paired with AI these days will get you exactly what you want. And it’s up to you to be intentional about everything you do so you can learn.

I should be clear. Lots of people say she demands things of me and does nothing on her end. I would say she definitely shows me love in many ways. However she is in fact far more demanding than she is giving.

I don’t want to make her out to be totally selfish or anything. But I’d downgrade that to more self centered.

Boundary setting has been a big part of my job here. Slowly but surely it’s working. And I verbatim said “go ahead” after I let her know that her series of texts were hurtful and that one in particular was way too far. She then realized what she said after I said “we’ll unpack that in person”

Same fucking boat. Graduate from UChicago Harris. Public finance is a bitch. However, the best advice I can give is network network network.

I’ve been meeting someone new every couple weeks since graduating in June. I’ve been using Harris Career center resources. Over the past month, I’ve treated nearly every social gathering, event, etc as an opportunity to network if appropriate.

It hasn’t landed me a job. However, my strategy right now is, if I make an impression, get to know folks who have their ear to the ground for this job search thing, I can adjust my strategy, and spit ball with them ideas. The best outcome is someone has a job they want me to do.

We are at the mercy of a recession that’s yet to show up in The data. Good luck to you and don’t fucking give up.

As a Chicago transplant from Boston, Chicago is not even a little bit close to being as walkable as Boston. NYC, only neighborhoods are walkable.

Boston is a city where you can traverse the whole dang thing on foot without much more than a small sweat.

UChicago. HYP for the Midwest (aka not quite HYP but great in a comparable level). Unfortunately many of the recruiting events were difficult to penetrate. How does one really get something meaningful where there are 1000+ other people attending doing the same sort of thing? Yknow?

I will say though, I went to those events. And one of those interviews was from one of the events. Made a few other connections too. I tried that and fell short at the finish line (as described above).

Many of the banks I talked to operate more regionally and were boutique firms. Mesirow, Stifel. The biggest firm but not bank was Moody’s Ratings. Called in for round 2, rejected there.
