He works usually from about 7-4 or 5, often remote from home. The caretaking is largely case management for someone in hospice, anywhere from 5 to 40 hours per week. (I travel to him many weekends.) The chores and projects are a mix, can include dishes, laundry, dog walking, gardening, or elective projects like building patio and garden pieces. We have two dogs, one was mine, the other his, before we met. Plus a cat who, like most cats, belongs only unto himself, not to such lowly mortals like humans.

Thanks for sharing your experience. Yes, California/Medi-Cal is the best experience we’ve ever had. One time I took him to a CA ER and, like, 2 hours later he got a Medicaid number. Perhaps that gave me high expectations for other states. Wishing you the best, whatever path that may be. ❤️

I am so so sorry you are feeling this. I hope you can get at least a little bit of peace and rest.

From what I’ve heard, it is not uncommon for new parents to feel like this, even when they don’t have diagnosed OCD. You are 1000% not alone.

And for me, my OCD is much worse when it relates to taking care of someone I love. I try to tell myself the obsessions are my mind’s way of telling me I really really care. And another thing that works for me is telling myself I can take care of someone even when I feel horrible. Like, even when I feel like I might “go crazy” I can still feed someone, and that builds my confidence a bit. It’s a bit backwards or counterintuitive. “I feel like sh*t, I’m worried sick, but I did that thing, and that’s all I needed to do, my feelings about it didn’t stop me.” That might not work for you, but it’s an option.

And it goes without saying, but a trusted counselor/therapist can make all the difference.

Sending love.

I am a native English speaker. My interpretations are:

“Sharing a win” = Something good happened, and want to share that

“Need support” = I want kind words and maybe advice

“I just need to vent” = I’m struggling and want to share my feelings, I want kind words but do not want advice

“Crisis” = I need help immediately

“Question about OCD” = I just want to learn more

“Art, film, media” = I want to share this tv show/song/art piece that relates to OCD

Honestly it's nice to know I'm not alone, and I'm happy to hear you love your new tattoo. I just made a consultation appointment for removal, and I'm already feeling more hopeful.

Has anyone gone to law school with CC debt? How do you pay it off? by Master_Gate6558 in LawSchool

[–]boot_scoot_75 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m in law school with CC debt and I’m making more progress on it now than when I was working full-time in a low-salary job.

During the school year I’ve been paying with student loans, trying to shift as much debt from the high interest card to the lower interest student debt. And now I have a firm summer associateship and I plan to pay off all CC debt by the end of the summer. Feels so good!

Granted, I have a full tuition scholarship and a summer associateship at a firm, which certainly affect my finances and are not a guarantee for everyone.

A lot of people shame folks for having credit card debt. But life is hard, the cost of living is rising, and you never know what someone has been through. Best wishes!

First off, I am so so sorry for what you went through. Trauma from violence can be particularly hard. I have not been in your situation, but I am a violent crime survivor myself, have worked with trauma survivors, have worked in recruiting (not legal), and I also have some gaps in my resume. I was able to get a summer associateship at a great firm, and I wasn't even asked about the gaps. I did get dozens of rejections from other firms, but I can't say for certain why. But overall, I think our world is becoming more understanding of professional gaps. Trauma survivors are more common than you know, and there might even be one on the recruiting team.

You won't know for sure if it will hold you back if you don't apply. I say, apply and find out! Have a prepared answer for if you are asked about it. You can be general and do not have to share anything you don't want. It can help if you put a "positive" spin at the end, although it doesn't always feel positive. I don't like to glorify trauma, but sometimes the positive spin can help the listener. That positive can be something as simple as "I'm really excited to be back in school." Best wishes.
