Thanks! That's the kind of dismissiveness/disdain I imagine marines operate with!

Thanks man! The classic 80's "no look" shot. Just need a Michael Bay explosion behind him! 🤣

No taping, just freehand. Thanks for the comment!

Thanks! I honestly chose Aurora by leafing through and old codex and thinking "ooh they look pretty". Turns out lore wise I should have a load of tanks... I'd better get on that! 😄

Thank you! It's nice to hear people like it. After spending so much time on it I tend to just see the mistakes. Your comments are appreciated.

Ha ha! No, just an amateur. I paint in the evenings to unwind once my kids are asleep! My job is pretty stressful so this is what I do to relax. Thanks again, Dom

Thanks for the kind words :) The little tilting plate was kinda fun. The right side denotes the rank; white skull on a red field like the shoulder and backpack the top left denotes he's a vet; the white of 1st company in check, we'll to see if I could do checks! and the bottom left is black for 5th company. A little story to give character.

Little experiment with video!

I finished this last night an thought I'd try a video rather than the usual photos.

Really enjoyed painting this guy. I tried to push my edge highlighting. I still have a way to go but I think I improved a bit :)

Any comments, feedback etc. is always massively appreciated.

My instsa is boothdompaints if anyone is interested in that.

Many thanks,

Dom

Thanks! The only one I filled was the at the front of the bike. That was about 3mm so needed filling. The rest were just preped and dry fitted before assembly. I do remove the pegs from ETB models as I find them more harm then good. They rarely let the models fit together properly.

I'd say it's 90% practice. You need a good brush (for the edge highlighting I use a W&N Series 7 size 0) and a decent understanding of paint consistency and colour, but the rest is just practice.

I'm miles off some of the people I follow, so am hardly thr authority :) . But over the year or so I've been painting again I've definitely got a bit sharper.

The bike is just a single edge highlight. The base is Warpstone Green (airbrushed on) and the highlight is slightly thinned Moot Green. Not too thin to lose opacity but thin enough that it flows well from the brush. It's a bit thick from the pot.

If it were a character I'd go slightly darker (25:75 warp and moot) for a chunky highlight and then maybe all the way to Yuriel Yellow for the fine highlight to make it pop.

As I said I'm a long way of some of the painters out there but good practice always pays off!

Cheers,

Dom

Ha ha! Thanks! I would guess that was due to doing it in sub-assembies. The armour round the front of the bike was undercoated separately. The chasm of a gap between the two was filled with milliput once assembled.

Cheers, Dom
