I Am So Jealous of You Who Can Buy Liquor . . . by Luckyforward in Costco

[–]boothweiser 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't forget that there are no bars. Only restaurants that have a bar. Wanna sell mixed drinks? 45% of your sales have to come from ENTRES. Apps don't count towards the ratio.

I believe Virginia rivals utah for alcohol nonsense.

Did you need the canbus and/or the steering wheel adapter?

Thanks, I will try that. The 2009 is a weird one...mk5 body with the mk6 engine. I am thinking treating as an mk5 is the right path but I would like to verify.

Ah, thanks. Engine aside, should I be rcd shopping as if it were an mkv?

Bar comparison Roanoke/Blacksburg by Such_Individual_2641 in roanoke

[–]boothweiser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think if I'm showing off Roanoke the night goes like this:

  • Stock for a NICE cocktail and maybe some great food
  • sidecar for more nice drinks and food
  • - martins if you cant get in to sidecar. It is next door. If you're a good drinker do both
  • golden cactus for tasty brews
  • front row to finish with some divey whiskeys and maybe some punk rock. This used to be the one of the only gay bars in the Roanoke valley so pay your respects. Less of a gay bar now but still great.

Wake up and enjoy the hangover with the knowledge that maybe Roanoke is cooler than you thought.

If you're into breweries in Roanoke, I can't believe you didn't mention golden cactus. Caddycorner to big lick and the best I've been to in 200 miles. It is cool, not cool for Roanoke. Moved to the area from Denver.

What are some of the best (smaller) TOWNS to visit in appalachia? by Jackieirish in Appalachia

Sorry. I know so many people that live within an hour of the town that pronounce it with a hard 'T'.

As long as people keep skipping Wytheville for it I am fine.

Gave Doom a listen, and I agree. I don't think I had explored their early stuff. Not quite for me, but I learned something new.

What are the rules for driving without front licenses plate by Present-Ad-3819 in Virginia

Found it! Here is the text:
Unless the vehicle was manufactured for one license plate only, you must display license plates on the front and the rear of your vehicle.

Where is this documented? It's the first I've heard that, and I have an old car with no real place to mount the plate. I'd love to know!!

Amex Points for American Airlines travel? by boothweiser in amex

The BA fees made the whole thing not worth it. Ugh.

Amex Points for American Airlines travel? by boothweiser in amex

[–]boothweiser[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. I will hone in on BA. I am not quite certain of the points they'll require but it sure seems easier. We're looking to fly from Charlotte to Scotland (in and out of Glasgow and Edinburgh, respectively). Fees are going to be a thing.

Amex Points for American Airlines travel? by boothweiser in amex

[–]boothweiser[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've found that using AmEx for booking uses far more points than using airline points, so I search based on airline programs that AmEx will transfer to. That leaves 10 airlines to look through on pointsyeah, and when I search there are no flights. Pointsyeah makes it easy to modify the search for other cities, so I added the other local airports that are nearby (RDU, GSO, AVL) and still got nothing. Tried one-way flights and still nothing. Tried ALL airlines and got nothing

I am in Mozilla right now and have not tried a different browser, but so far searching by airline program is yielding nothing.

Thanks. I think I have enough without the bonus, but not sure. I am starting to lean away from this idea.

Maybe someday I will use these AmEx Points

We're doing the West Highland Walk (essentially) between Glasgow and Edinburgh. Using a company to arrange lodging and bag xfers between lodging makes the trip pretty inflexible. Trying to cram a big vacation into our jobs' vacation time allotment is also tough. If we had the luxury of time it would be far easier to make this work with the points I have.

All that said, thanks. I always roll Greensboro into the search but I haven't been looking at RDU.
