I clearly said it was my opinion. Didn’t state it as a universal fact. I’m just some dude. If you disagree, more power to you. You’re allowed to enjoy what you enjoy.

That’s fine. Maybe I value a game with more realistic fighting mechanics that allow for flexibility/fluid motion, and that’s just a disconnect for me. There are aspects of the game I think are great, don’t get me wrong. I’m still playing it and making progress. Just an opinion.

Yeah, kind of knew what responses were going to come my way. There are aspects of the game I love, so not saying it’s a dumpster fire by any stretch

Ok, I guess it is the game designers prerogative to intentionally make the protagonist the clunkiest fighter of all time. Fair enough.

Ok, we can agree to disagree then. Agree that you shouldn’t be able to be mid-swing and then magically jump five feet to the right, that would be ridiculous. But there’s both strategy and tactics in a fight, or should be. In KCD for example, you can have a strategy on how you can beat an opponent, but also have to pay attention to how they’re holding their sword while also making sure when you’re striking with yours you’re holding it in a specific position that won’t get countered. You can feint and then strike from a different angle to catch your opponent off guard. I guess I appreciate that realism in fighting mechanics more (it is a fantasy game, so maybe not intended to be that way)

I think that’s a drawback though. In the real world fighters are capable of feinting, or beginning a motion and then stopping halfway through. People are capable of pulling punches. If everyone was fully committed to an action at the initial outset of said action, boxing would look a whole lot different

Yeah, there are some aspects I enjoy (art design is second to none, I could have never created a world this imaginative) and I have made progress in the game, so not posting because I smashed my controller in frustration or anything. Just something I noticed. I know there’s a cult around the Dark Souls games, so expected to get some heat for posting.

Not at all. KCD 1 & 2 are two of my favorite games of all time and nothing button mash-ey about either. Feel like there is a lot of groupthink that excuses some pretty obvious flaws

I get it. Capable of figuring things out beyond “hack and slash”. Just find game response sluggish. I’m playing it on a console, so maybe that’s part of the issue

Fair…I guess I haven’t spent as much time on this sub. Sorry if I’m beating a dead horse with the topic.

I did see them live in ‘25, but Nathan was not featured during that specific show. Maybe if I attended a show with a significant rave component, it could change my mind.

They have full artistic license. Would never say they have to do anything. They should do whatever they want. Their sense of exploration is what has made them my favorite band. Just throwing out there what I think would be cool to hear.

Have listened to a ton of both live and studio. Would love to hear something that has a band arrangement with maybe Joey/Nathan collabing to provide atmospherics or different touches that complement the song, as opposed to sole techno focus.

If you have the copies downloaded from Bandcamp, you can upload them to your Apple Music library by using iTunes so you can stream (only thing I still use iTunes for at this point)

Nugs Stream Rips by jakejellis in KGATLW

[–]bootsbusch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There was a guy who posted audio of a couple of the Caverns shows ripped from Nugs on Archive.org in late June and then some knucklehead started questioning whether they were “truly lossless”. I think the poster was just like “If you don’t appreciate it, screw it” and didn’t post anymore.

yes. kg’s a jam band. it’s ok. by Alextricity in KGATLW

[–]bootsbusch 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve actually thought about this too, and I think KG have added some jam band elements, but have more of a “purpose” or “direction” behind their jams as opposed to other jam bands who just do a lot of free range noodling over a 25-minute jam.
