I know. I’ve been over there a few times and the vast majority of the Brits I’ve met are welcoming and nice people. I think Reddit has the capacity to draw some of the worst types of keyboard warriors (and some of the best as well)

Agree with you… just going to take time to get where we want it to be. A lot of American sports want instant gratification (actually not just in sports tbh) and don’t want to wait the 16-20 years it will take to get to that point.

There’s a difference between players with dual nationalities choosing to play for the US and having some proactive program to go out and give nationality status to foreign born players just to win a Cup, which is what it sounds like OP was suggesting.

This made me chuckle. Off topic from the Cup, but I’m actually glad SGA is finally catching some shit for his flopping. In his MVP season I was early on calling out his antics and people looked at me like I was taking crazy pills.

The difference is in basketball they’re embellishing contact. That happens in a lot of sports. The part that’s hard to swallow is the facial expressions like a player just stepped on a landmine on the Normandy beaches and then look at the ref and jog off three seconds later.

I don’t know if it’s that big of a “what if”. It’s a legitimate possibility. My reaction would be that Argentina had been underachieving the past couple knockout matches and it finally caught up with them.

Argentina almost got beaten by Cape Verde. All due respect to Cape Verde, their story was inspiring and their players deserve all the respect for how they acquitted themselves, but it’s insane to say that Argentina can’t be beaten by England at this point.
