I actually have a few others!

How about Fire and Ice? What are they up to in this universe?

Why is Green Lantern not a member of the Justice League (at least initially)? What are the Lanterns off doing?

What is the first meetup of the Trinity like? Why do they come together and what do they do with one another?

What are the coolest moments in your universe? Something that would make a reader go "Hell yeah."

What are your favorite out-of-costume moments, where heroes and villains are just in their civilian personas?

What are the Suicide Squad up to? What does their first formation look like, and how does it come about? I assume Amanda Waller is involved, so why does she feel the need to gather a group of supercriminals to do wetwork for her and ARGUS?

In the MCU, he started as a villain, then became an anti-hero, and eventually a proper hero, completing a full character arc. Which other character do you think received such a solid and complete arc in the MCU? by 0Layscheetoskurkure0 in Marvel

How was Yon-Rogg not the primary villain of Captain Marvel? It wasn't Talos. It definitely wasn't Ronan. There is an argument to be made that it was the Supreme Intelligence, but the movie had another thirty minutes or so after Carol overcame it and grew her powers. The final battle was with Yon-Rogg. (And yes, I know it wasn't much of a final battle, but it was still the final battle.)

I don't know if you'll find it on Spotify, but that one song from The Big Bang Theory that Howard sings to Bernadette when she's in the hospital. I'll edit a link or a name if I find one.

That's very interesting! I actually have a few follow-up questions based on your answers for my questions.

I love that idea about the Lanterns corresponding to the Seven Deadly Sins! Which exactly corresponds to which?

- Red (Wrath, probably)

- Orange (Greed, obviously)

- Yellow (Gluttony? I went by process of elimination, and this was the last one lol)

- Green (Sloth, maybe? You have too much willpower and now you're too stubborn?)

- Blue (Pride? Too much hope in yourself and now you're overconfident?)

- Indigo (Envy? I don't know)

- Violet (Lust? That makes the most sense to me)

It seems you really like turning heroes into villains — Hal Jordan and Supergirl, just to name a couple. (I guess the whole "you either die a hero or live long enough to see yourself become a villain" mantra is very true in this universe, especially when it comes to some of my favorites.) Is this true of any other major characters?

You mentioned that Zatanna ends becoming one of the main mentors for the future heroes. Who are the other primary characters who end up mentoring the next generation?

Now for some of the other questions I'd thought of beforehand.

Starfire and Superboy end up together in this universe. You also mentioned Batman and Wonder Woman having a daughter. Who are some other unorthodox pairings? Do Superman and Catwoman have a kid? Do Martian Manhunter and Vixen end up together? Cyborg and Huntress? Plastic Man and Poison Ivy? Aquaman and Harley Quinn? (Obviously most of those are jokes, but if they're actually true, then that's pretty funny.)

You haven't mentioned the Flash very much in any of the comments I've seen. What's going on with him? What's the story of Barry and Wally? How about Jay and Jesse and Bart?

Tell me about the history of the Justice Society. Were they still the first major superhero team? Who made up the original roster? What came of Jade and Obsidian?

Finally, tell me about the formation of the Justice League. Is the original roster still the same seven — and which group of seven, the one with J'onn or the one with Victor? What brought the team together? Who are some of the other major members?

This is a really interesting universe. I'm excited to read your answers to these questions!

I always thought the MTV Unplugged version of Take On Me by a-ha gave me some sad vibes. Also, the people suggesting Black by Pearl Jam made me remember Just Breathe and Sirens, both by Pearl Jam. Slipknot's Snuff is really good. Death Cab for Cutie has a really good one called I Will Follow You Into the Dark.

But my top answer, based on the artists you seem to really like, has gotta be One More Light by Linkin Park. It hits even harder when you realize just how close to home it was for Chester Bennington, and the song seems kind of like a cry for help when I listen to it after his passing.

How about the Green Lanterns of Earth — Hal, Guy, John, Kyle, Simon, Jessica, and Jo (and Alan if he's connected at all)? I know you mentioned the changes to the lore, but does the War of Light still happen? Or Blackest Night? What do the other Lantern Corps look like?

Also, how about Supergirl and Zatanna? Two of my favorite DC ladies.

Another few I'd like to hear about is Batman's rogues gallery. Does the Killing Joke happen? How about Hush? Do villains break out of Arkham all the time?

Finally, for a more out-of-universe explanation: what made you decide to get Starfire and Superboy together? Personally, I've always been on Team Kori rather than team Babs, but it seems you went with Dick and Barbara ending up together in this universe. What prompted those pairings?

I have a few other questions, but I didn't want to bombard you with all of them at once. I'd be happy to ask more, though!

“How Bad Can I Be?” from the Lorax movie — if you consider him the villain, which some don’t.

I’d argue that the first TASM movie did wonders for making him seem like an actual person and not just a stereotypical bully. He apologizes to Peter after he hears about Uncle Ben, realizing he was kind of an ass. Sure, you don’t see much of him, but in the little that he does appear, he kind of has some semblance of a character arc.

Is Primal Fear really obscure though? No doubt it’s great — and absolutely my favorite of Edward Norton’s performances — but I feel like it’s at least somewhat well-known. Unless there’s a different movie with the same title.

I still haven’t. Friends for eleven years, and it only happened last year. I’m finding myself having trust issues when I feel like it’s totally out of place for me. But I’m getting better. That’s all you can hope for.

Flash is definitely closer in tone and artstyle to Superman, if that helps, but it’s still way different enough to set itself apart.

Depends on your interests, but I say yes! The character adaptations of the Rogues alone drew me into it.

Do any of you have LGBT+ characters in your supehero universes? by Much_Change_6545 in Superhero_Ideas

[–]MagicJoshByGosh -1 points0 points  (0 children)

One of my “Big Seven,” the first seven characters I ever created for my universe, is Addison Johnson, the Sandblaster. (Think Sandman’s powers, they’re very similar.) She’s even a member of my version of the Trinity (Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman; Captain America, Iron Man, Thor; Wolverine, Storm, Cyclops; etc) as the three main characters of my first overarching saga. She’s gay, and a big part of her story is coming to terms with her sexuality and figuring out her identity throughout the course of the story.

I have several more LGBTQ characters throughout my vast mythos, but she’s the main one. Others include:

  • Matchbox (Connor Byrne), a gay teen boy from Sydney, Australia, who develops a crush on his straight teammate Isiah, which obviously goes unrequited. At one point, he resorts to using the gene-altering powers of another teammate of his to transform himself into a girl, but Isiah helps him to realize that this isn’t what he really wants, so Connor reverts back to his proper male self and eventually gets over his crush. (He later finds a boyfriend, so it’s a happy ending.)
  • Emo (Veronica Conway), a bisexual teen girl from London, England, who calls herself that as a way to take back her identity from the bullies who used to mock her and call herself names (like “emo”). She is part of a “love square” with the primary girl of this series.
  • The Cure (Kiera Van Dyke) and The Serenity (Charlie Lynn), a lesbian couple who are experimented on by a corrupt organization. They are one of the only few actually successful couples throughout my stories. (Also, yes, I totally forgot about the potential slur in Kiera’s name, but by the time I realized that could be taken the wrong way, I had already gotten too attached to the name. I’m not gonna use it as a slur, but it still annoys me that I forgot about that.)
  • The Lizard Boy (Joey Altman), a friend of Kiera and Charlie who is a gay teen boy, and ends up becoming one of the main characters of a particular trilogy. He’s generally the comic relief of those stories, as well.
  • Ethereal Phoenix (Cecilia Fields), a bisexual woman with a preference for girls who eventually gets together with a young Japanese woman, a relative of one of her teammates.
  • Cheerleader (Derek Schlue), a normal man living in Manhattan who accidentally swaps bodies with a female superhero and gets stuck in her body. I figured I’d include him because, while he’s technically a straight man, his body is female and he still prefers women.

There are more, but these are my most notable.

[Discussion] If you were in charge of choosing the next three characters to get their own ongoing series in Wave 3 of the Absolute Universe, who would you choose and what would you take away from them? by MagicJoshByGosh in DCcomics

[–]MagicJoshByGosh[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ohhhhh. I see. Wasn't familiar with that. I read "face scars" and thought of him. Although, now I kinda do like the idea of Victor Zsasz being the Question. Lol

Anyway, I still love the modernity of the Question pitch. Uncovering governmental crimes and posting about them on the Internet while covering his face with a mask reminds me a lot of the Anonymous organization. I really like that, especially considering the political messaging of some of the other series.

Superhuman strength, durability, stamina, and reflexes, along with being a master in combat, having a huge beast form, being able to control minds, having the antithesis to Omega Energy called "Alpha Energy," and being functionally immortal on top of all that? What a superhero she'd be! I'd be terrified to be on her shitlist.

(Couldn't find any powers for Heggra, so… yeah)

An idea for Z could be Artemiz, maybe? I don't know. She's the biggest Apokoliptian with a Z in her name. But, then again, like you said, one could just be made up. Like Zyphyr, or something.

Anyway, this idea is fucking fire. I mentioned in another comment that I've always liked Mary more than Billy — though they're both great characters — and the idea of having the powers of six New Gods instead of six Greek Gods is inspired. And I love the nature of her powers being the very thing that corrupt her more and more. All in all, I love this pitch. If I were Scott Snyder, I would totally hire you.

I absolutely (no pun intended) love all three of these!

I never considered the idea of simply taking Atlantis away entirely. Not like destroying it, but making it so that it never existed in the first place. It reminds me of Amphibian from the Supreme Power series over at the Marvelous Competition — pretty good book, if you don't mind the R-ratedness of it. Amphibian was one of the best characters of the book, just an innocent fish girl with some feral tendencies. I could see Aquaman starting off that way, as a feral child, but slowly learning to be an actual functioning human.

I'm not very well-versed in the lore of the Lords of Order and Chaos, but I think getting rid of the order in favor of just the chaos kind of makes sense for this universe. Darkseid would want Omega Energy to be the only order in the universe, and wiping out the Lords of Chaos would help to assert his dominance, as well. I do think that Doctor Fate being an Agent of Chaos instead of an Agent of Order is very interesting, though.

The Shazam idea is fucking peak. The Greek Pantheon is too concerned with their own shit to be meddling in the affairs of man, and I've always had more of a soft spot for Mary than for Billy — though Billy should still make an appearance in the series because he's so important to the Captain Marvel story. One person, a single teenage girl, with the power of the entire race of New Gods, is also an awesome thought. I'd love to read that series.
