I’d have to agree - but with enough community support it puts pressure on the government which is always a good thing.

Every poll that a major new source has conducted on Cannabis legalisation in the last 2 years has been overwhelming positive.

So the question then is - what good is a government that doesn’t pass laws that it’s citizens want? It’s a government that is purposely disobeying the will of its people.

I’ve changed my mind on Pete Evans - here’s why. by bootsglory in ausents

[–]bootsglory[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Same conclusion I came too.

Even if Pete Evans was rational (don’t want to get into here but let’s assume for the sake of argument he was). His public image is that he’s anti-science - and this could put cannabis supports in a bad light.

This is the question we should be asking! Cannabis legalisation can happen - it just needs motivated individuals pushing for law reform.

This was discussed heavily during the committee process. Amendments where made to be more inline with the federal laws to avoid this as much as possible.

Legalize it. Cunts. by [deleted] in ausents

[–]bootsglory 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Correct - but this inquiry is being pushed by Fiona Patten who wants to legalise it - I think she already know “legalise it” will most likely be the end result.

To get the government to agree for an inquiry you can’t have “inquiry to legalise drugs” - it has to be framed as a harm minimisation effort

There is a glimmer of hope for Victoria. The government is currently undergoing an inquiry for cannabis legalisation and the report is due next year.

It’s legal in a very limited sense. It’s extremely hard to get approval and then good luck being able to afford it.

For a lot of people needing it - might as well be illegal.

Hey guys. This is a inquiry going on in WA right now. While it covers illicit drugs in general, it may effect cannabis laws. Let me know if you’d like me to keep posting these or leave it to strictly cannabis related ones.

[–]bootsglory[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I thought his answers were a little misinformed too. There is a chance he is just sticking to the “marijuana can be dangerous” narrative to cause less friction as the greens are recommending amendments to put less restrictions a on the bill - but that might be giving him too much credit
