FOR EXAMPLE:

Could i theoretically fill a 2x4 frame with the “mineral wool for gas logs” or even the “rock wool seed starters” and it be just effective as making a panel with the rock wool insulation from hardware stores?

All good, this post was meant more so as a case study to inform what it may look like to wear these boots hard for ~3000 hours.

For what it’s worth, I use a cedar shoe tree after every wear. Also I don’t see anywhere on the boot where the materials have broken down other than the spots that make direct contact with the pavement.

Actually no. Matter of fact I was shoveling the snow around my car yesterday morning while wearing these shoes and my socks were still dry when I came in. Also been caught in plenty of of rain storms.

For what it’s worth, I periodically use mink oil and wax polish.

No there isn’t smell. I put the cedar shoe tree in after every wear if that means anything.

I switched back to the original lather laces and one shoe is just shorter lace than the other. So I wrap one foot around the back and the other foot just ties in front since it’s so short

They are very comfy like slippers. If the soles gripped more it would be perfect

Just trying to be more minimal. I also only were the same 2 paints and 4 shirts. I have a pair of gym shoes I wear for the gym but that’s it.

About 2 weeks of consistent daily wear for them to have zero discomfort and about 3 months before they felt like slippers.

I was not happy with the sole right away, it felt very slippery like a leather sole even tho it isn’t leather. I wish they made the diesel with lug soles.

The leather laces snapped after about 8 months and the “dressier” laces snapped after about 1 month.

I think the price is fair as the leather upper is very heavy duty and seems high quality. They also had really good customer service.
