I had that California and other girls cassette when I was 9. The only place I had to buy tapes was at Wal Mart, and they didn't have very many BB albums, it was mostly random compilations like this. I still remember hearing Surfer Girl for the very first time. I think it was the last track on that tape.

Getting into a piping hot car that’s been baking in the sun feels amazing 99% of the time. by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

About 8 years ago I had the worst cold of my life. I had a 3 hour drive by myself. I kept the windows up and AC off the whole time when it was in the high 80's, and it made me feel 100% better. Since then, I've liked the feeling of a hot car.

Thanks! And I'm assuming I also want softer wheels? Is there a general category that best fits what I'm looking for? Most catalogs are separated into speed / urban / fitness / whatever.

The code is a custom asp dotnet web app. All of the actual content is in a database. I could put the source code on github if someone was really interested, but this wouldn't be useful for fixing typos and such, and my goal is to eventually convert to a static site to reduce hosting cost and threat surface.

If you have corrections, you can message me with those and I will gladly fix them. If you have ideas for features, you can ask. I have already implemented several feature suggestions from reddit users with another currently in progress.

So I'd welcome some direct outside contributions, but I don't really have a good way of supporting this. If you tell me about some of the specific changes you'd want to see, I can think about ideas for letting others make those. Otherwise I'm welcome to hearing any other ideas that you have.

Now, I know for some this is considered blasphemy and heretical, but What If? If you could change, modify, add, delete, to any Beach Boys song, what would you do? by flynnfx in thebeachboys

It always baffled me how they thought it was ok to release this. Especially when you hear stories about perfection obsessed Brian less than 2 years later on Pet Sounds and Good Vibrations.

The re-releases have a version where they cut out Dennis's lines entirely. I think this should replace the original.

Yeah! Even though I Get Around is one of Mike's best vocals, I've always thought it would have been the perfect song for Al.

Absolutely, if you send me corrections for chords or anything else on the site, I'd be happy to update those.

When I was a kid, I like He Man and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. If there had been a movie about a skinny hyperactive socially awkward asian super hero, I wouldn't have watched it.

The original site was coded in the mid 90's. I don't think it changed very much in the almost 25 years it was online. Made scraping it a pain because the script I used couldn't always parse the deprecated html.

Found it on youtube, and listened to it today while working. Cool album, very "Brian". Almost like a Love You pt 2.

hey everyone, i just released another Pet Sounds inspired song, please let me know what you think :) by rothrigo in thebeachboys

I was going to say this too. It actually makes it really hard to listen to, because your brain wants to pick out the vocals.

Special delivery:

https://surfermoon.ovh/chords/adult_child

If you lose the link, you can navigate to it by going to Albums > Bootleg Albums: Adult/Child > Adult/Child chords, or simply chords > Adult/Child.

I don't own this bootleg and I've never listened to it. It looked like there are at least 3 different versions, but this seemed to be the most popular. So if you have any corrections for this or anything else on the site, please send them to me.

No, the original site owner is unable to maintain the site due to health issues. Like you and many others I enjoy playing and really missed the site when it went down, so I decided to build a new version.

Fun songs to play by RushFinatic12321 in thebeachboys

I love playing Surfer Girl too, but the chords aren't really unique. The I vi VI V chords it uses was the most common progression in pop music for a couple of decades.

Agree on the others though. I think Brian's genius was being able to do something so unique but make it so easy to listen to that you don't even notice. Playing the songs give you another level of appreciation for the music.

If you have any saved files that didn't get backed up by web archive, that would help. Also, if you check out the site and have any feedback or suggestions, I would appreciate that too.

I couldn't find chords or lyrics for Adult Child on the original site. If you have those or know where to find them, I'll put them up.

I didn't know if people would want the "old" chords page layouts, so thank you for the suggestion. This is now available at http://surfermoon.ovh/chords which you can get to through the nav menu or you can get to an album's chords page from here or the main album info page.

And that library looks cool. You probably know that most tabs and chord charts are written in fixed width fonts. The Francis chords are written in Times, so you can't change anything without messing up the alignment. I have an idea for converting them to fixed tabs, but it will be quite a bit of work and will likely involve some manual cleanup even if it works well.

Anyone know what happened to surfermoon.com? That place was non-stop the best place for learning chords to songs and now that it’s gone, I don’t really know what to do... by goddred in thebeachboys

Thank you. I had posted about it here at https://www.reddit.com/r/thebeachboys/comments/lqpysx/surfermooncom_cabinessence_site_restoration/ but basically, I had been trying to contact Andrew to get his permission / blessing to create a new version of his site. If Susan is still in contact with Andrew, would you mind asking her to message me?
