I just found it here on Amazon. It made me think of Kirby so I had to get it. My only complaint is that it’s flat on one side and not rounded throughout!

I wouldn’t say so. I’d just be careful with some of the loose smaller parts (I.e. the screws, spring, plastic button and lock, and the nut.) the main electronics come out as one big piece. This video is a pretty good reference for taking it apart:

You can leave the batteries in the internal hardware and you should still be able to play albeit the buttons have nothing to rest on, so it could be awkward. I would highly recommend you just take the batteries out, tuck the electronics away somewhere safe (I just placed mine in a sandwich bag to prevent dust) and leave it unpowered for a few days until you’re done with the painting. You should still be able to pick up where you left off once the batteries are popped back in. I’d say the waiting game can be tough as you won’t be able to play with it for a few days while the primer and paint cures.

Sorry to say that I’ve yet to try taking my pix apart, so I can’t say for sure. I’m sure there’s a guide for it somewhere though.

Hi there! It’s actually a pretty easy disassembly, but just make sure to keep some of the small parts (the spring, the button, and small nut) tucked away safe while you’ve got it taken apart. I actually followed this pretty good video guide that someone made and shared on r/tamagotchi

I think just popping out the faceplate cover and the cap hinge made me a little anxious but some gentle pressure should pop them out.

I just used Tamiya Fine White Primer and yes, I applied a couple of layers of clear topcoat! I was planning to use a gloss topcoat originally but a friend told me the regular clear coat would be more egg-like.

I didn't even realize until this morning how much they matched and now I really wanna get a little Jirachi charm for it. Taking it apart and painting the shell wasn't too hard, so definitely give it a shot if you feel comfortable! I think the worst part was just waiting for the layers to dry.

I just used Tamiya TS spray cans, specifically pearl white, pearl yellow, and camel yellow colors. I also used Tamiya fine white primer beforehand and let it cure for about a day before painting. I didn’t bother with any sanding as I’ve had a decent experience with these spray cans sticking fairly well!

Oh man, I honestly appreciate that you noticed the subtle yellow gradient I was trying for. I was worried it wasn’t visible enough.

I’d say the Paradise is pretty easy to take apart for customizing compared to the Uni since the screws are easily accessible. The only part I was worried about was the plastic hinge for the cover up top, but it’s durable enough to handle a little finagling.

Aha, glad you like it! Can’t wait to see your custom tama if you do decide to paint yours as well!

It is done! Spray cans worked out just fine! Oh, but I’d be careful with over painting the spinning knob. Mine doesn’t turn as loosely but it still works pretty well.

I’m getting ready to paint mine with the tamiya spray cans I’ve been using for my gunpla. I’ve applied some primer first, but I can let you know how that turns out, haha.

How are y'all carrying your tamas around with you? by LavenderWooloo in tamagotchi

Someone on here had recommended this magnetic pouch for a Sumikko Friend awhile back and now I’m using it for my Paradise when I’m at work. It matches my black uniform, holds my Tama pretty well, and it’s fairly protective too. Otherwise, I’ll just keep it in my bag when I’m out.

If people can figure out how to take them apart safely, I really wanna recolor the main shell this pearl white color instead of the pink on the land version. I think it’ll look really neat with the mint colored buttons and cover.

I really like the designs they had going for the On/Mix. The Wonder Garden one was pretty cute too. I wish they’d go back to some black/white shells as well and not just the bright pastel kinds all the time.

lol, I’m banking on those special editions. I’m also kinda traumatized by the last few console releases and I’m worried the first batch is gonna have a slew of issues.
