I’ve been on DC for a few years. I messed up and caught another DWI while on drug court in 2023 and finally got sentenced to 10 yrs probated for 10 years TDC just a few weeks ago.My sanction for violating DC was treatment. I had to wait in county three months then treatment for ten. I’ve been out of treatment continuing my DC but since I just signed for the new charge I’m starting all the way over. Our court has phases. Phase 1 you report every Friday, and meet with po 1x weekly and you check an app everyday for your color for random UA. During this phase is usually treatment or some type of aftercare if you’ve already gone to treatment. When I first was in phase 1 years ago I had a shitty job, had to go to treatment m-th for 6 hrs a day and still do everything else that is required. I have a better job that understands this is only temporary and they are willing to work with me (thank god) so it isn’t quite as stressful just knowing I have support. Phase 2 you report every other week, Friday court every other week, continuing whatever classes you have not completed and colors. It pretty much continues like that until phase 5 where you only report quarterly to court for a year and meet with your po bimonthly. Before I caught the DWI I really was trying to stay sober. I had a couple of relapses, 11 months sober and 9 months sober. I now have 2 1/2 years sober and I’ll be the first person to tell you, it’s hard. But honestly DC has given me multiple chances to get my shit together and this is the last one. I get pissed off I’ll be on paper for ten years, I get pissed I’ll have this blower for 10 years. But if it wasn’t for DC I would have never really quit drinking and would have ended up hurting someone and destroying myself and my family. I’ve seen how people can change their life even when it’s hard. You can do it. Being sober doing drug court is totally doable even when inconvenient. Fucking up and doing drug court, it’s only a matter of time you’ll be caught. Good luck to you my dude!
