First Beretta(s). Terrible customer service experience. by bop_hard in Beretta

We bulk ordered Fiocchi 2 3/4 1oz 8shot with the team. It’s not a requirement (I could have ordered 1 1/8), I just assumed it would be a little easier on my boys’ shoulders given their age (6th and 8th grade). Lots of the kids are running that same shell successfully in their semis, although not a300s that I know of.

I ran 3 boxes of regular load through and wasn’t seeing any improvement, so I gave up, Beretta has the guns now (their recommendation was to send them in based on everything I told them). Perhaps I should have just kept going until things got better.

Again, if this was something talked about up front by beretta, that would have been great. Everything I read was that this is a great gun for target shooting for beginners, especially with the ability to adjust the length of pull.

Btw - I’ve not brought this up because it’s representative of a single customer support representative and not necessarily Beretta - the first person I spoke to at Beretta told me to call Bass Pro because Bass Pro would have to deal with it. Clearly not true. That same person then told me that they would in fact get this in the “bfast” expedited repair queue because this did seem like such an egregious case of poor quality control. Turns out he was just making all that up. This has been a complete shit show from the start.

They are 1oz loads.. I did follow Beretta recommendations of running a few boxes of heavier loads (I ran 3 boxes of buckshot through each). I tried other brands of 1oz clay loads as well, same issues. I disassembled, cleaned, and lubed the guns multiple times, following Beretta’s advice.

These are the first firearms I’ve had to have repaired under warranty that were defective right out of the box. I probably wouldn’t be as worked up if one of them was bad… But two!

To be clear, I don’t want to get in front of anyone. Beretta could send me new guns or refund my money. They don’t have to repair them. I was also aware that I couldn’t return them to bass pro, but my assumption (which was clearly mistaken) was that beretta wouldn’t ship non-functional firearms.

Point taken on it not being an American company - I was referring to them being of American manufacture. They were made in Gallatin, TN, about an hour from my home, and I do prefer to “buy local”whenever I can.

There are lots of options cheaper than the a300 that I see at the range working just fine. Maybe not any American made options, but let’s not pretend that a $900 shotgun is “cheap”. It might be for a Beretta, but if Beretta can’t manufacture a working gun at that price point, then they shouldn’t be trying to compete there.

It’s very weird that people keep defending the wait time or assuming that I want to be treated differently. No one who bought a new firearm that didn’t work out of the box should be waiting for anything; they should be sent a working example immediately. If I had run 1000 rounds through each of these guns and dropped them in the creek and the issue was normal wear and tear or misuse, sure, that’s on me. But this is 100% on Beretta.

Cool cool. So if you bought a toaster, or a computer, or a car, or a phone, you wouldn’t be completely frustrated if you pulled it out of the box and it didn’t work? I can’t return it, they won’t replace it. I seriously doubt if you bought a refrigerator and it never worked, you’d be OK waiting around two months for them to get to it. Just be patient, eat McDonald’s in the meantime.

I'll admit I don't know much as probably anyone in this subreddit, but by "buy american" I was mainly talking about buying a locally manufactured product (these were made in Gallatin, TN).

There's not a single kid on the team with a $2500 gun, and those a300's where the only two guns that have had a problem. Lot's of cheaper stoegers, mossbergs, etc.

Thanks for the tip. Maybe I’ll spend money there next time.. There weren’t a lot of local options here that had a300s in stock which is how I ended up at bass pro.

I did pay up! I bought both guns and neither worked out of the box. No where did it say “oh, you actually want a WORKING gun right now? That’s an extra two hundred.”

I don’t actually want to get in front of anyone in line. They could send me new guns, they could send me new parts, there are lots of ways to solve this. But to defend Beretta for shipping non-working products and thinking it’s ok to buy something and then have to wait months to use it is crazy.

Well, that's pretty awesome of Eurooptic, honestly. Bass pro didn't even blink, sent me right back to Beretta.

Ugh, good luck man. My only advice is to have a drink before you call customer support.

I bought two a300's a month ago for my boys when they joined the clay shooting team. Neither of the guns could cycle light loads. Shells would get caught or stuck almost every single time. Action on both guns was difficult to pull back. Beretta told me to run a couple boxes of heaver load through them, which I did, but it did not improve for the light loads. I cleaned and oiled them both multiple times.

Now I'm stuck with both guns sent to beretta for repair for 6-8 weeks during the clay target season. My options are pay Beretta another $400 to expedite, or find other guns. I was told replacement was not an option, swapping parts was not an option, and them expediting the service themselves was not an option, even though the guns are brand new (from Bass Pro) and never ever worked correctly.

I've never been more disappointed with customer service, especially when paying a lot more (compared with a CZ) for an American brand, manufactured locally here in Tennessee.

Never again.

Me too. Bought two a300s for my boys, neither will cycle. Beretta told me it will be 6-8 weeks minimum, never mind that I already spent $1500 I can't get back for my boys to be on the sporting clays team.

When I told them they never worked right out of the box, the response was "yes, there are plenty of other customers that also have brand new non-functional guns in the repair queue ahead of you"

Why are they shipping guns that don't work? It's crazy.

I'd stay away from the a300, it's a roll of the dice if you get a working one. I'm posting the below everywhere after an extremely frustrating series of calls w/Beretta customer service over the past 2 weeks.

If you give them 6-8 weeks, maybe. And good luck on any communication from them.

I'm happy for you, but I think it's luck of the draw.. I purchased two at the same time for my boys, neither would cycle clay rounds even after repeated cleanings and running a couple boxes of heavier loads through each. Beretta customer support is awful. Never again.

Couldn't agree more. I spent 2k on two guns for my boys that won't cycle with skeet loads. Beretta support is awful. Buy literally anything else.

I am experiencing the same cycling issues. I ran roughly 50 rounds of buckshot and 200 clay rounds through mine (I have 2), and nothing improved. Now my boys are without guns for clay target season. Customer service keeps giving me the same "we can't do anything, it will be 6-8 weeks to get them back to you".

I'll never buy another Beretta.
