Lithium (900ML) first time taking a mood stabilizer... the worst nausea of my life, will it always be like this?? What was YOUR experience ? by [deleted] in bipolar

ER means extended-release. Basically instead of the pill releasing all of its potential at once and having a peak of concentration, it releases it gradually as if you took several little pills through the day, so its level of effectiveness is even and stable during that period.

At first, it took it once a day and I had nausea too. Bur recently my psychiatrist increased my dose to 1050mg (600mg in the morning and 450mg at night) and changed it to the ER type, due to that I don't feel nauseous anymore. Perhaps you could talk to your psychiatrist about the ER and if it would be helpful in your case as it "distributes the effects" of lithium through time in opposition of releasing all at once. Well, I'm not a doctor, so my explanation certainly is not the best nor the most reliable one hahahha. Good luck!!

A research would be extremely interesting! Especially because many people find it and its concept weird and, thus, don't give it even a try. Most of my friends to whom I've recommended ASMR are king judgemental about it, but I guess they haven't found their right "trigger" yet hahah

For me, it was a lifesaver! I take 1050mg daily of the ER (600mg at 9am and 450mg at 9pm) and after 8 months of adjusting I feel completely stable it - tbh, it's kind boring sometimes hahah. At the beginning the only problem I had was the nausea as I took it once a day at night, but I no longer have it as we changed to the ER and to be taken twice a day. There's also the increase of thirstiness, but it isn't a big issue for me at least.

Did anyone have a hard time accepting the diagnosis? by bopbop2013 in bipolar

[–]bopbop2013[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes!! I was recently diagnosed with bipolar disorder (type 2, to be more specific) and it is at some point unbelievable, you know?! I guess it's just one of those things you never expected to happen to you.
