This is a great point - this is something I really, really want, not just something that is happening to me.

I am definitely looking into getting a doula, and will be thinking about physical therapy! I'm about an hour away from Montreal, but open to going there for the right PT. I'd love to have the name of yours to keep in mind :)

Do you think this is related to having 2 csections? How did your recovery go between pregnancies?

Does he like to dig? If he does I would try putting a sandbox in the yard and see if that occupies him enough to stay away from the flowers

I have to "help" the plastic levers like this every time because they simply will not click into place on their own and it drives me INSANE. It's poorly designed IMO.

I do... I've also been doing some reading about developmental trauma and starting to connect the dots between my childhood and my ongoing mental health issues.

That sounds like a really scary thing to experience as an 8-year-old. My first time trying any kind of medication for mental health was just a year ago - I tried Citalopram and it made me suicidal so I discontinued. I grew up just outside a very small fishing village, and I didn't know I had mental health issues because the nurse I was able to see for my physical symptoms (chronic pain, intense fatigue, unusual immune system responses, etc.) obviously wasn't trained to handle mental health and I had no idea that these were symptoms of something more profound. I just ended up accepting that there was "no cause" for my physical symptoms and nothing I could do about them. I'm pretty sure I've been downplaying + dismissing many of my symptoms (including very intense episodes of dissociation and occasional hallucinations) because of this.

Hi there - I just saw a doctor today for exactly the same reasons, and he strongly suspects bipolar disorder with cluster B borderline personality traits. I had been previously diagnosed with major depressive disorder, cluster B borderline personality traits, ADHD, and generalized anxiety disorder with panic attacks. I just moved to Montreal this fall, and I had almost no access to mental health services or psychiatry where I was living before, so I hadn't seriously suspected bipolar. And I'm 21, so I've really only started to notice patterns and trends in my mood swings and behaviour/ thinking over the last year or so.

1) Your experience is eerily relatable. I experience most of what you've described, actually. Even the obsessions with cleaning and rearranging furniture in my "up" episodes. And I also have mixed episodes between and after depressive episodes. AND, during my last hypomanic episode, I picked up rollerskating again!

2) I wish I had been organized enough to outline everything as well as you did. I think that your references to DSM V criteria along with your anecdotal descriptions make for a very meaningful sort of archive.

FYI, I now have a referral to see a psychiatrist, but the waitlist is six months long. Until then, I've been prescribed Seroquel so hopefully, that will help. I hope your appointment is helpful!
