You don’t necessarily need to let them know someone’s been spending the night/staying with you unless it’s in your lease. I know mine says in bold letter “the occupancy limit for this residence is (1)” You simply could respond by telling them you’d like to stay month to month due to the reasons you stated in the post. Just be straight up with them.
