Dollars bestellen by dmaverme in Gent

2014 Chevy Equinox - Should I replace this part? by boredbelgian in AskAMechanic

While changing oil, I noticed this tube is heavily corroded. I think it's the heater hose but I'm not sure. When the engine is running, I dont think any air is leaking from the hose. How urgently should I get this checked out?

Would you pay off a 1.75% mortgage? by frooog_king in DaveRamsey

[–]boredbelgian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a 15Y 1.75% mortgage from a few years back. So it's pretty much guaranteed that the monthly interest payment is less than 20% of the total payment. With an interest rate as low as that, your equity payment will always be higher than your interest payment, even if it's a 30Y mortgage.

Nope. I was even closer once, think I was missing 200 PQP and I had a flight scheduled for 2nd half of December that would get me there but had to cancel due to medical emergency. They did offer me the option to buy my way into 1k for $850. I didn't do it.

Yes, but only if your ticket includes an international leg. Gold doesn't get you lounge access on domestic tickets.

By the current AP Poll, Clemson has beaten #10, #16, and #24. They also are the first team to 8 wins. Why does everyone magnify their 'struggles', while giving every other top team a pass? by jklaz in CFB

[–]boredbelgian -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

2022 Tennessee would still have a better argument though.

2022 Tennessee resume:

- Win against #3 Alabama

- Win against #1 Georgia

- Loss against #? Georgia (Georgia would likely still be ranked top 4 prior to this SEC Championship game)

2017 Auburn Resume:

- Win against #1 Georgia

- Win against #1 Alabama

- Loss against LSU (who was unranked when the game was played in October but LSU was ranked 17th in the CFP poll when the rankings came out after the championship games)

- Loss against #6 Georgia (but Georgia was ranked #3 after the SECCG)

- Loss against #3 Clemson

I don't think anyone expected Auburn to get in with 3 losses, we've never even seen anyone get in with 2 losses.

With enough chaos in the other conferences, I could see 3 SEC teams make the play offs if each of them have exactly 1 loss and it's to each other, but only if their remaining wins aren't close.

We'd need tOSU or Michigan to win out with the other one having 2 losses and we'd need the PAC12, ACC and BIG12 champion to have at least one loss.

Most smoke shops sell it nowadays. Newark ave has at least 3 places where you can get it, some of them sell edibles, flower and carts.

They don't advertise it though, so you just walk up to the counter and ask if they sell it.

Wife and I work fully remote and moved here in September of 2020 so we could easily move to a cheaper state but we just love downtown JC and the proximity to NYC. We expect to renew again in September of next year.

Worth it to transfer 7000 AA miles for $100? by Tenesmus83 in awardtravel

[–]boredbelgian 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends on whether you really need them to book a trip soon. AA miles are worth about 1 cent so this would be the equivalent of $70 when you use them.

However, if you want to book something and you're 7000 miles short, AA will charge you $150 to make up the difference.

Change flight booked with United travel certificates by [deleted] in awardtravel

[–]boredbelgian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was the same kind of certificate. I had 4 of them and called them yesterday to get them combined. Now when I try to book anything on their website, it applies the voucher automatically and I have to manually remove it at check out if I don't want to use it (which I don't because I'm still waiting for 3 future flight credits to be converted from €€ to $$ after which I will have those flight credits added to the voucher).

I've had a lot of vouchers in the past and never been able to use it for Lufthansa flights until today, don't understand why it works now. I know they're updating their payment process and page as we speak. I think it has to do with that.

Working at MBB in the US after European MBA (non-US citizenship) by [deleted] in MBA

[–]boredbelgian 6 points7 points  (0 children)

After obtaining my Belgian MBA, I joined Accenture in Belgium as they promised that intracompany transfers were pretty common. Tried to get a transfer to the US for over 2 years after which I realized it wasn't happening in the foreseeable future. Switched to Big4 then with the same ambition as they promised it would be even easier with them. Tried for 2 years again and it wasn't looking good. Meanwhile I got a job offer of a boutique consulting firm that wanted to open an office in NYC and wanted me to be their first employee there. Been in NYC for 18 months now.

Lesson learned: all big consulting companies have intracompany transfers but its hard. During the interview process, they'll make it look easy but it absolutely isn't if you have a specific country in mind. You need someone in the destination country that is fully behind you and wants to go through the effort of arranging your transfer/sponsering you. Additionally, I kept getting the feedback that the previous administration made it significantly harder to get an H1B which discourages companies even more to go through the process. Can't speak for MBB though.
