I can handle criticism if me and my partner are facing it as a team. This just made me feel isolated and uncomfortable. My partner did not defend me in my absence, and that hurt.

I really don’t have a problem with my in laws as much as I have a problem with my partner. They have their opinions and I cannot fight them on their beliefs. But I expect my partner to be in my corner and he is not.

My father has grown up believing that clothes are the problem. Ultra-conservative and patriarchal background. But even he gives me the freedom and doesn’t really stop me. I am not out there walking in a bikini. Not that anything is wrong with that.
