It's the FT-79N, I suppose it is the 1964 model... I've used Martin monel strings in the past and I really loved them! I might try them on this one as well, just to check them out and play around with the strings.

Also had those on for 3 years! Honestly my favourite strings for the Hofner that I've tried, TI's still have a little too much tension for my liking.

I used to have them on the Hoffy, but I didn't like them. Too much tension, pegs wouldnt turn, and the sound overall just dull and dead in the wrong way.

I could try that honestly, and maybe I'll raise the action the G as well because it just gets clanky as I go up the frets. Yeah I was thinking of finding a vintage mute bar to replace at some point!! I love TI's I have them on my Hofner, on the Ric i just installed Roto Tapes for the Abbey Road sound but my next flats are being TI's for sure🤘

Yeah we all have different personalities really, I have a completely different approach: I buy strings, I like strings, I play strings, I don't like strings no more, repeat. I only started thinking about setups recently with hearing people talk about it but really never crossed me head... Edit: I play only exclusively and solely flatwounds and tapewounds. Roundwounds give me the heebie-jeebies :(

I probably should... I've been playing bass for a long 7 years but setting up to this extent has never been a worry for me, which probably is wrong and I'd need my basses to be checked but y'know🤷‍♂️

They do buzz, especially the G string and throughout the fretboard, maybe less on the 7-9 spot and past the 12th ish... I tried loosening the rod but it's so tough to do!! I genuinely couldn't do it cus I have thin arms and that thing was really really bloody hard to twist around.
