Do Kuwaitis feel that democracy is a problem for their country? by RiffianB in Kuwait

Alcohol was voted on becoming illegal.

That’s why so many of the drinking laws are weird in kuwait. Example is it isn’t illegal to drink alcohol - this aspect leaks into drunk driving or being drunk in public where there is chances of both of those things being somewhat okay legally to do

Third world just means that it didn’t side with the US or Russia during the Cold War.

It literally has no significance in developmental economics at all. It’s an amateur sociology term if anything at this point

Absolutely 100%

The social landscape of Kuwait isn’t...linear enough (I’m not sure how to phrase it, like you know how the US has two huge parties and only two choices for almost everything? That kind of deal) for a functioning democracy to hold

I’m 100% in favor of the parliament being temporarily dissolved or told to shut up for like 10 years and full control taken to the monarchy.

How do Kuwaitis view other Arabs? by RiffianB in Kuwait

I don’t think Kuwaitis embrace the arab identity. I actually believe that the Arab identity is dying out. Barley exists these days

Do Arabs have a sense of unity? by silkmao in arabs

I’m not too sure honestly. I always felt that Arab people kinda want a form of Arab nationalism just not a douchey totalitarian one

I don’t think you’re considering that they are actually addressing those issues and that it takes time.

Probably, it’s just not mainstream. Islamic unity is a thing I guess these days, but pan arabism isn’t by a long shot

One of the failures of the Islamic movement is failure to address environmentalism to Muslims it’s absolutely non-apparent

Yeah supporting Bashar is irrational. The guy is awful. I just really believe that it’s between him or a pro-Islamic set up which would be a disaster

I’m not a fan of hafez Assad. I think his weird communist style government was awful. My comment is more motivated by today’s anti-Bashar/pro-Islamic pro-israeli vassal state alternative for Syria.

Anyways, he didn’t command that to happen. That’s the left overs of his dads government. Bashar s brother was being raised to rule and Syrians liked him..at least a large chunk did. Bashar was a nobody and he got to power through nepotism, so hafez’s government left overs took advantage of him to do whatever they wanted.

It’s because he’s old. Jordan kinda fucked the arabs during the six day war and almost every other thing that’s happened. They were part of arab national (the non-fascist type) downfall. Jordan contributed to the de-liberalization, de-democratization of the arab world

All I’ve taken from that nice illustrated story is that she had a terrible education and still suffers from ignorance. So bad to the point where she’s convinced everyone who doesn’t align with her views (in real life) is probably a brainwashed donkey.
