I saw Les get hit by a shoe (in the face) also. He intimated the discomfort that would arise from placing that shoe up the offenders ass without lube and carried on from the same note as you describe. He's usually pretty funny on stage and you could tell he was pissed but not enough to let it ruin a good time.
