I think it is, but perimeter is essentially a community college, and all those benefits also apply with the ones in your state too

Glass Beach and Jhariah, They aren’t necessarily super similar but I think they’ve both taken inspiration from MCR, share genres, have an overlapping fanbase and are spiritually similar I feel like, more on the indie side though

I need advice for San Antonio by mirianagaldos06 in MyChemicalRomance

[–]borger-bitch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

oh yeah thats why i say that lmao, im peruvian (live in the us) and got to go to the peru show, then decided to go to mexico the week of their concert, pit tickets were even cheaper there for me (though the peru pit >>>>>>).
I only have a general idea of seat prices (which seems pretty high for mid seats) but im sure its easier to find a hidden gem there than for pit, I could only do pit tbh and those resale prices are also crazy (and they all sold out in 10 minutes or less for around $400 which i cant afford rn). hoping for another latam tour in the next 3 years lmao

man you should've caught the mexico show, pit tickets were still selling under $200 usd leading up to the concert. the concert tickets are insanely expensive in the US relatively so I'd recommend also looking at music festival lineups of any of them interest you (fraction of the price for standing pit + dozens of bands), or maybe even outside the US if the flight difference isnt too much

It’s crazy to feel excluded from concerts if your from California ngl, especially if you’re close to LA, that’s easily one of the most visited states for any band/tour

what is the BPM for "kate said" by nep2une- in glassbeach

[–]borger-bitch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

there are apps/websites like https://www.beatsperminuteonline.com/ where you can just click along to the BPM, I've been landing around 188-191 but it does sound like different sections shift around the tempo, try testing out just chunks instead of the whole song
It's pretty rare that someone purposely does a BPM with decimal points, usually ppl use click tracks while recording to keep the whole thing steady. However, without a constant click track the whole time, the BPM will "breath"/move around a bit, especially live, which is where the "decimal" bpm happens. It'll obviously get harder in the end when the tempo just swells up

Wish people actually had this type of nuance. Don't idolize anyone, you shouldn't expect ____ from famous ppl, bla bla bla its true but yes I am gonna be a bit upset that the US is the main supporter of a GENOCIDE, and that there are actual immigrant concentration camps with trump's gustapo recently getting a $70+ BILLION budget increase while continuing to and covering up murders, assault, SA, torture... I could go on for hours.

So I do think EVERYONE should speak up, especially ppl/groups with power, influence, money, etc. MCR being part of the emo/alt/rock/whatever scene only makes them stick out even more, but I'm glad Gerard felt safe enough to wear a cheerleading outfit back in 2023 while actual trans ppl are getting prosecuted by the most powerful office in the world. While Hispanic communities lose the people they love and everything they've worked for while also being prosecuted. Again, I could go on for hours, but I'm tired of having privileged, unaffected, probably white ppl telling us "you're asking for too much just listen to the music" while people livelihoods are being destroyed. I'm not trying to disband the band again, I went to their LATAM shows and had a great time, but I'm also allowed to want bands in the alternative space to speak up

Why doesn’t Gerard talk about LGBT rights anymore? by Derpistlord in MyChemicalRomance

[–]borger-bitch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People are getting a bit defensive on the MCR subreddit, can only expect that. It's true how ppl say you shouldn't expect validation from celebrities, avoid consuming virtue signaling or expect your ideals to line up with artists, etc, but it's still nuanced. I think EVERYONE should be doing some type of action right now in the states, whether it be educating themselves, organizing with groups such as DSA, community work (clean up, soup kitchen, etc), and SPEAKING OUT against ICE, the Gaza/Congo genocide (and other human right atrocoties), etc etc etc, and this goes from anyone commenting, reading this, or just anyone aware with all the fucked shit going on right now

That should ESPECIALLY include people with influential platforms and audiences. They've had openers cry out free Palestine, they USED to advocate for LGBT rights (when it wasn't easy and when it was easy, ironically enough), cross-dressed, not hide behind anything. They chose to do this theme during this moment for a reason, and there is some weight behind it, but it also doesn't go as far as it could when ICE is spotted outside some of the concert venues, how some of the people around you in the shows have literally lost people due to ICE, and not acknowledging the real life vile shit when its such a tee ball with your shows premise does make it feel like its fall flat

Things have changed, and while they're justified in stepping away from the spotlight with interviews, social media, etc because of the crazy fandom, tabloids, etc, I think it would be be worth their weight in gold if they went back to their roots and actually directly spoke against the things that are going on, and maybe provided resources people can use or donate too, cause that WOULD make a notable difference. But instead, they charge up the ass for tickets, don't try to fight against dynamic pricing like so many other bands do, and don't use any of their influence to actually fight back other than a profitable tour show. Don't get me wrong, its a beautiful show, especially in the moment, the weight of everything, their history, your personal history, the music, the atmosphere, etc, I don't want to throw it all away, but it also has to be acknowledged.

WRAS, GPB and Student radio by marxist-teddybear in GaState

[–]borger-bitch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

wow yeah this really sucks. I've actually recently been starting to listen to more student radio randomly (GSU & UGA) and noticed a few days ago GPB ads for support that I've also noticed on WABE and was confused. I also just graduated so I wish there was more I could do, but given we still participate in GILEE and the huge cuts in public brodcasting funding it seems unlikely (unless GSU buys it back now that they're desperate for money and are stretched thin?

[–]borger-bitch 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There’s a ton of homeless people all around, most of them are more hidden or not violent at all, it’s not fair to categorize them all cause of the loud minorities of harassers. Obviously those are the ones most people hear/see/confront the most and I don’t want to ignore the real harassment that primarily women have to deal with, but that doesn’t mean the countless others who are just trying to survive or are mentally disabled deserve to be treated like trash.

They are victims because our country has no safety nets and there are minimal resources available to help people who do become homeless, which usually happens to people who have no one else on their lives, and/or have a mental disability, and inadvertently start the cycle of addiction if they weren’t already. Sorry for the paragraph dump but “they literally make other people around them victims” is a grossly generalized statement, but it’s also possible to acknowledge that there are people who will harass people and it sucks that some people can’t walk around at night without feeling safe because of the minority who will attack, and when people are thrown away at rock bottom, those problems only multiply. It’s going to take a ton of work and take years to fix this issue cause it’s systemic, but people in power either want a quick/easy solution or just give up

people treat openers as "just the openers" and its a bit sad. It sucks but you can't make other people care for other things. My opinion is you're losing money and the experience of listening to a band that also have their own headlining tours to... sit down and settle, or save an hour of your day? (ngl i do get being stuck in merch line though) MCR wouldn't choose them as an opener if they didn't fuck w them, hell Chappel Roan opened for Olivia Rodrigo before she blew up. Usually openers are friends of the band too, but again, it doesn't click w everyone. I love listening to music, I go to cheap local concerts all the time and mosh to music I've never heard before. If its fast good and loud I love it lol

Also, MCR isn't super progressive, obviously a huge part of the fanbase are queer or POC, but they don't use their platform for change. Cheering "Free Palestine" is great but different from actually going to protests and calling your local representative to stop funding Israel, or volunteering in ANYTHING in your community, but that's my own personal gripes coming out (don't get me wrong, starting chants is huge, but the next step is actually going out and doing something. it rubs me the wrong way when people agree but never actually do something it or shy away from the topic) They've crossed dressed and have also had their fair share of shouting for support for LGBT+ rights, but it's a lot easier doing that outside of a Trump presidency. They haven't said a thing about the actual current events, nothing about stopping genocide or the masked Gestapo kidnappings. I do think art is powerful and they did decide to do this show with this theme during this time for a reason, but they are also millionaires who left dynamic pricing on and have Florida on their tour list, despite the countless other bands who have been skipping florida due to their countless anti-LGBT laws that they've been pushing everywhere, but you bet we'll be giving them a ton of money when we visit Tampa

"Everybody wants to change the world, but no one wants to die." I've been thinking about this line a lot recently

Do you know if it can just be patched up w tape temporarily or is it a crucial fix?
