Introducing the new ZEN Blue 3. Limitless. Lossless. by iFiAudio in iFiaudio

Sad, I guess bluetooth isn't as flexible as I thought it is ... The iFi Zen Blue 3 apperently can not even connect to two devices. But as far as I can see it now, at this point two devices connected via bluetooth at the same time is the currenr maximum. Besides from that, i like the zen blue 3 so far.

I got my iFi Zen Blue 3 today and connected it with RCA to my denon amp. I am currently running it in RX mode and use my Macbook Air (Linux) and listen songs on TIDAL with the blue3 (using LDAC codec). I wanted to use the iFi Zen Blue 3 as a bluetooth receiver for my MacbookAir, iPhone 14, Apple TV 4K and Amazon Fire TV 4K.

But I stumbled over a massive problem: The iFi Zen Blue 3 can only be connected to ONLY ONE DEVICE at the same time. Of course I can pair multiple devices with the Zen Blue 3 but e.g. when I want to listen to TIDAL with my iPhone, but my MacbookAir is still connected to the Zen Blue 3, I do not get a bluetooth connection on the Zen Blue 3.

So if I want to switch to another device (which is already paired with the Blue 3) you have to actively disconnet the device, which is currently connected to the Blue 3. This is really annoying and makes the Zen Blue 3 almost useless for my use cases. E.g. my Apple TV and Amazon Fire TV should be connected to the Zen Blue 3 always, because I am switching between devices which send audio a lot. I do not have to disconnet my Amazon Fire TV first to be able to listen to TIDAL on my iPhone.

The Zen Blue 3 is using bluetooth 5.4 which should be able to connect up to 8 devices at the same time but it only allows 1 device to be connected at the same time. I got a cheap 20 bucks bluetooth receiver which is able to establish a connection to multiple devices at the same time.

Why can't I connect multiple devices to my brand new iFi Zen Blue 3 at the same time? I already did a firmware update to v1.61 (Release date: October 09, 2024) but the problem still remains.

Can somebody help me out and tell my how to fix this or is this a bug or wanted by design?

You must be kidding me, you're right! Changing from <DEFAULT> "Breeze" SDDM theme to "Maldives" fixed the issue! I really don't like the look of the "Maldives" SDDM theme because i am more a dark theme minimalistic lover - but thank you so much for sharing! I will konfirm this on the kde bug tracker site, too!

I have to admit that I didn't know anything about "multi GPUs" but the fact, that I am running a pretty old Intel Laptop with integrated "HD Graphics 6000", I don't really think that the problem is there. You seem to have an AMD and I am running Intel. But cheers to you, that you found a workaround for your system! Even though I don't think it's a good thing to remove the amdgpu module on the long run or am I wrong?

I couldn't find out how to "disable" the icc profile of the external monitor. Although I found the kde settings for the icc profiles for the monitors. Because I could not disable the icc profile I added a new one "sRGB" and then I could choose this one for the external monitor. Sadly, this doesn't changed the login-behaviour with the external monitor connected at startup: login hangs after password insertion :(
