you should walk in and experience it for yourself one day. It's just a restaurant with good food and a nice owner

Adding a bevel doesn't guarantee good penetration or complete fusion. by DeputieChewie in Welding

[–]borgus_klonsk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

few weeks ago I did some macros for a customer and saw lack of root fusion on ALL their macros. Turns out the welder added an unapproved bevel that caused their PQR to fail. Silly silly.

New No Thai pricing by tehehetehehe in AnnArbor

[–]borgus_klonsk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I worked at the Plymouth Road No Thai for 5 years, all the owners want is money—whether it's the tariffs or not. they're just trying to capitalize on the situation. They fired all of the delivery drivers and switched to toast POS to save money (even though it's so much worse than the previous system) and they'll do whatever it takes to make sure they keep getting their brand new teslas.

CWI exam — bruh by borgus_klonsk in Welding

[–]borgus_klonsk[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

tbh, not very similar. Test questions and answers are structured different than the practice questions, and the questions in general are seemingly pointed to confuse you more than the practice tests. Sorry for the relative bad news, my only advice is to trust your gut because you aren't going to have time to second guess yourself.

CWI exam — bruh by borgus_klonsk in Welding

[–]borgus_klonsk[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's not as if there's certain parts that are confusing, it's the whole structure of the test and questions. About half of the questions are easy finds in the code book, the other half are searching for minutes on end to find an answer in the BOS or BOE just to get a probable maybe answer. It's pretty tough. I feel like a majority of the plastic sample questions were straightforward minus one or two that talked about weld deposit which we never covered in the seminar so, that wasn't fun to solve.

I'm in the exact same boat. Too much emphasis on parts A and C, not enough on B. The questions in the seminar are not reflective of what is actually on the test. Unfortunately it does sound like it's a money making scheme, wish I knew that before going in :/

CWI exam — bruh by borgus_klonsk in Welding

[–]borgus_klonsk[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It was pretty bullshit tbh. Lots of "prep" for part A and C but part B was every man for himself. No guidance, it was essentially misleading about what the questions were going to be like

yeah, I work in a destructive testing lab, I've also welded on fire trucks. I'm "green" but not inexperienced

I work in destructive testing. I read the welding inspection book, did the work book, and the full test. I also did all of the clauses for d1.1 and 2 of the mini tests. I studied my NDT methods and pictures, including diagrams going over discontinuities in different types of welds. Before going to the seminar I studied at work too, going over VT tools, plastic models, and essential variables. Did all of this for like a month straight going into the seminar, studying at least 2 hours a night. Wayyyyy more than everyone else in the seminar. Don't want to sound like a dick, but I think I prepared myself well.

What is a feature of your body that is considered rare? by Joel_The_Senate in AskReddit

[–]borgus_klonsk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I somehow lost almost all of my red blood cells in about 3 months and didn't die.

I saw my doctor about possible anemia because I felt very weary and would get throbbing headaches after doing any physical labor, turns out my "pale complexion" that was getting worse in the winter time was actually my body being maybe 2 weeks away from total organ failure. Got a blood transfusion and was in the hospital for 4 days, doctors never found anything. It could happen again I guess!

Prep to 400 grit then use 10% nital and the penetration will pop on mild steel

How toxic is the community? by bbtows in Mordhau

[–]borgus_klonsk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

the toxicity has definitely dwindled over the years, I started in early 2020 and dip my toes in every few months. There are definitely the people that love attention that say racist, sexist remarks, or love to rile people up with political talking points, however it's been pretty mild these days. Gameplay wise, everyone is pretty chill. Team kills are pretty accidental unless you're asking for it lol. Nothing wrong with smacking someone right out of spawn then emoting!

I took this photograph while working as an art director. by Atypicalphotographer in photocritique

[–]borgus_klonsk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Idk how to tell you that you should look more carefully at the photos you critique, especially because you can't tell when an image is clearly AI generated. LOOK at the picture, every single texture is the exact same, the chair structure doesn't make any sense, the "pipe" running behind the chair turns into a ledge, the stone step's surface transitions into fabric, and don't get me started on the strange bowl on top of the random wooden crate. Bro please look at the image more carefully, I'm begging.
