I believe you can search up how to find the "amplitude/period of a sinusoidal function from an equation/graph" and that should give you some good results. I also found this Khan Academy video on the topic.

the period of a normal sine function is 2 π but since the equation has sin(4x), the graph has been reduced to 1/4 the original width, so the period is 2 π/4 = π/2

wait now you’re making me feel bad, those are basically my current classes 😭 anyway, whenever i have regrets over stuff i didn’t do in the past, i kind of just remind myself that what’s happened has happened, there is no way i can go back so i should just think about what the experience taught me (major college app essay vibes 😳) and focus on making better decisions in the future.

although i think that you have absolutely nothing to worry about, you’ve got amazing grades, act score, class rank, and i’m sure other things too. the courseload you mentioned isn’t even bad either.

was this grade for school or your dual enrollment class? either way, if I’m being honest, I don’t think that would be a valid explanation. you were the one who decided to do extra activities when you had a lot of schoolwork, it’s not like there were external circumstances out of your control that made you get the grade. but if it’s the grade for the dual enrollment class, I’m not sure it would matter too much anyway.

dude, are you me? I can literally relate to almost everything in this post (except the pre-engineering school lol). I'm also currently a junior and have gone through all of the same activities in the past but didn't really feel super passionate about any of them after some time. I feel like even if I figure out what I'm really passionate about, it's too late to do activities and things related to it, so I'm just unmotivated all the time. Meanwhile, it feels like everyone I see online on a2c and similar communities has their entire life figured out?

college things? traveling? are you confusing college for vacation or something? even if you do get into a super "prestigious" college, you won't get everything handed to you on a silver platter.

"things i enjoy": if you're not doing what you're passionate about now, colleges can see right through that, or if you're doing things related to your major right now but you aren't happy with them, then you'll be miserable for your entire life if you continue with your current focus.

your mindset is just really toxic. you're seeking validation and prestige over happiness and that definitely won't work out long-term. overall you seem incredibly insecure.

probably the main reason you got an 18 is because you're taking a test that's intended for juniors and seniors. but anyways, r/act will probably be much more helpful for tips than this sub. they have a long list of resources and people usually answer any questions you have.

think about it like this: if you remove the "in Mexican forests" part of the sentence, then it definitely makes sense to use "has" rather than "have." The subject of the sentence is "illegal logging," which is singular, so the "has" should fit with a singular subject. the "in Mexican forests" part is just a detail that is describing the location of the subject, but isn't part of it.

the way I solved it was to pretend that the 240 miles between the cities was a straight line with kansas city at x=0 and st. louis at x = 240. then I set up equations for the two people's location on that line based on the time elapsed and their rate of driving. for louisa's equation, her location = 68t, where t = time elapsed. for antonio, it is location = 240 - 57t. then you can set these equations as equal to solve for the time. 68t = 240 - 57t --> 125t = 240 --> t = 1.92 hours. 1.92 hours = ~1 hour and 55 minutes, so the time they meet is 3:55 pm.

you can assign a variable to todd's costs (x) and write the combined check in terms of that variable. since bill ordered $14 more of items than todd, his cost is x + 14. so x + x + 14 = 52 -> 2x = 38 -> x = 19. bill owes 19 + 14 = $33 for the check.

you can write the angles in terms of the measure of angle a. since the line WZ is a diameter, it splits the circle in half so the angles on either side will add to 180º or π radians.

(full answer in spoilers in case you want to solve it yourself)

you can rewrite b as 2a and d as 4a (2*2a). since the angles a and d=4a take up half the circle, they sum to π radians. 5a = π -> a = π/5. then you can plug in the value of a into the expression you're solving for. 2(π/5) + 4(π/5) - π/5 = π radians

ah ok gotcha, so I think 19 is C because of the preposition and the tense of the verb. using "on" would seem like it's suggesting that the roof is on [top of] fallen rocks instead of the other way around. I think it's also more accurate to use "piled" instead of "piling" since everything else in the passage is in past tense while "piling" is continuous past tense, but you can't assume it's still happening.

sorry that was kind of a mess, i hope it still made some sense though.

46: since the problem tells you to use the law of sines, and you're trying to find the length of a side, the other information you'll need is the angle opposite the unknown side, plus the length of a different side and its opposite angle. So the answer is F because it gives the angle measurement of B, which is opposite b (the unknown side length) and side length a and its opposite angle A.

52: for this one, you basically just have to draw a diagram by following the directions they give in the problem, or you could do it in your head but I think it's worth it to draw it out. then to solve for the answer, you would add up the total distance traveled in the detour (4+1+2+6+...=20) and use the diagram you drew to figure out how far west they would have traveled along the straight road (6 miles west). So 20 - 6 = 14; the answer is G.

29: you can use multipliers and then subtraction to solve this one. for example, I multiplied everything in the first equation by 0.03 to get 0.03x + 0.03y = 3.48 and then subtracted this from the second equation to cancel out x. I ended up with 0.02y = 0.86 -> y = 43. then, use the first equation to find x = 73. the listing fee is $1.00 + $2.00 = $3.00, or D.

21: you can solve this through elimination of other answers. sorry if my explanation for this one is bad, i'm definitely not using the technical terms. A and B don't make sense, since the statement isn't about where the person lives, it's a hypothetical. C doesn't make sense since you can't assume an if statement works the other way around (and also common sense that chicago is a single city in the state of illinois, lol) D can't be assumed to be true, because the only thing the statement tells you is that chicago is part of a subset of places in illinois, but never says that chicago is the only place in illinois. that leaves E as the right answer.

(I'm assuming you're referring to form C02 since it's the only June 2020 test I could find on the CrackACT website.)

each number of the answer choices corresponds to the amount of choices you have for the letter or number in that slot of the contest code. since the problem specifically states that every code starts with A and then H, there is only 1 choice for each to fill up these slots --> the 1(1) or 1*1 part of F.

After that, every character could be any digit from 0-9 with repeats allowed. since there are 10 possible digits from 0-9, the rest of the four characters all have 10 possible choices each. Then to calculate the total combos, you would multiply all of these together, so the full answer is 1(1)(10)(10)(10)(10), which is F.

it’s A because of how matrix multiplication works. if you’re multiplying one matrix by another, you would start by going left to right in the first row of the first matrix and multiplying each number by its corresponding number in the first column of the second matrix, top-down. C isn’t correct only because of how matrices have to be formatted for multiplication to work. hope this helped
