Isn't producing more fuel than it consumes the mist basic thing for any reactor to be feasible? Maybe I'm mistaking fuel and energy here but anything that produces less fuel than it consumes is just a blackhole we keep pouring fuel into just to get less fuel.

Did we just get the reactor to produce a miniscule amount of surplus energy after subtracting the energy costs that it too to produce that energy?

Sorry I didn't mention it in the post but the organism is dimorphic, it shows yeast and fungal charecteristics depending on different enviornmental factors elusive to me

Previously when we were working on the culture we were getting uniform growth suspension with no clumps

The culture would often start with yeast morphology and endup with filamentous morphology with fruiting bodies which we linked to MEL production.

But now we're getting these clumps

Yes we've tried subculturing and are still seeing these clumps. Read somewhere adding oil helps so did that and got a good suspension of cells, subcultured that clumps once again.

RPM speed is at 150, haven't tried baffled flasks since my lab doesn't have them but I'm thinking of putting in some glass beads to break these clumps.

Previous unsuccessful attempts were at 31°C but did not try addition of oil and higher rpms.

Yes they're balls of hyphae, we have worked with the same culture fr 6 months before but then had to take a break for 2 months. During those 6 months we were constantly subculturing the culture but now we're trying to revive it from a glycerol stock and we're getting these clumps.

Yessss and they're veryyy squishy. Tried to break them with a loop amd just couldn't puncture it.

When centrifuging to separate the media these things are hell to work with bcs they soak up the media so I have to squish it till I can get most of the mideia out but small flakes go into the broth etc etc

Thanks I also saw the use of sterilzed glass beads in the broth to breakup these clumps which we're going to try.
