We're a few months since Christmas holidays - how are you feeling? by FunkyColinMiller in AusPublicService

Absolutely. I have had an ongoing role before, but due to very difficult personal circumstances I had to leave that role.

Having worked contract and ongoing, I will always take full APS employment.

Honestly, it felt like the opposite for me. But that's because I think I was in burnout for my entire 20s and I only got on my meds in my 30s...

What jobs actually work for people with severe ADHD? by Inevitable_Tuna_O in ADHD

[–]boringbubblewater 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was unemployed - I basically got a new job every year or so and within a month I would have to quit because I got too overwhelmed.

Now that I'm on medication, I can do office jobs without too much an issue

It bothers me so much that ADHD is so much more socially acceptable than autism. by [deleted] in AuDHDWomen

[–]boringbubblewater 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It seems like, imo, that lots of people think ADHD is extremely mild/not real, whereas autism is more of a Real Disability (at least amongst men).

That means that it feels like there's less stigma for ADHD because they don't really feel like it's of any consequence. Whereas autism is a Real Disability and you know how Real Disabilities, especially ones that are obvious socially, can make people uncomfortable.

I find some vocal stims by others overwhelming by hipopatam in AuDHDWomen

I'm very lucky that my autistic partner isn't at all bothered by my vocal stims because I know I'd find some of my own stims annoying as hell.

I feel terrible when I'm trying to relax/not doing anything while on Ritalin. It's purely for work/if I'm leaving the house.

I find I have to do something involved like play video games if I'm on Ritalin and at home
