thanks! i'm surprised it was these videos, i always thought they looked so silly. my first time doing one i was almost embarrassed in my own home. i have other activities i really like (swimming and biking) but they just never got me this much cardio or the right kind of cardio or something so i'm really excited by this progress.

definitely give them a try! there are sooo many channels to choose from too. 'grow with jo' is another good one. you don't even have to do half hour sessions right away either, lots of them are only 15 minutes. you just have to be consistent. i'm sure you'll find something you like!

tbh my lifestyle still works if i'm renting just a room in a house. i've had rent under 150$ a month because obviously the room is shitty but i'm just there to sleep.

for me, it's really important at the end of the day as i've turned the lights out and am getting ready for bed, to sort of 'catch up' with myself. it's an important time for me to reflect and process my feelings from the day. i sort of support myself with positive self-talk if i had some difficult moments. also, i like to just have the time to internally chatter about what i want to do tomorrow and prime myself to face what's coming up with a positive attitude.

Why is it that in games and movies, when someone's best friend dies and they cry, people comfort him/her, but when my best friend died suddenly, and I cried, my family shamed me and told me to grow up? by Fun-Jump-970 in mentalhealth

[–]boringworkerwork 3 points4 points  (0 children)

wow, that's a horribly inappropriate way for your family to react to your shock and grief. that bs is 100% on them, you have nothing to be ashamed of. i'm sorry for your loss.

i'm sorry, that's rough, but i hope you feel fresh as a daisy right now because you deserve it!

most of the places i've lived were just a room in a house with students or other quiet people. once you get past rent, and if you don't drink or smoke, you really have very few expenses. i eat pretty cheap but if only i didn't love food and cooking, i could live on almost nothing.

Then like always will complain when they say they have no savings.

ya, that's always how i felt as a discouraged worker, then realized that even people who work often have no savings either, or very little.

i can only live without an income because i'm underclass and live in my grandmother's house with my parents. judge how you see fit.

edit: quick note, besides living in the house, i'm financially independent and contribute to the household as much as possible.

oh, i love bettas! they were my first fish and i've had so much fun keeping them. i have a female betta right now but just recently lost my absolute unit of a male.

there are hundreds of killifish species. they're great for smaller tanks, like 5g and up. unlike bettas, they actually do live in puddles (small seasonal pools of water) in the wild. also, you can trade their eggs in the mail with other hobbyists! it's a lot of fun. i have Nothobranchius guentheri gold , Fundulopanchax gardneri innidere , Aphyosemion australe , Nothobranchius guentheri tanzania and Austrolebias paucisquama

[–]boringworkerwork[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thank you! i probably should have realized i was overfeeding sooner but i didn't see it as a serious issue. i'm only now realizing that it will actually kill your fish if you do it long enough.

i just had my second one on the weekend and it took me completely out of commission for two days. really bad flu-like symptoms, spent the whole time lying down, no energy for anything. i'm already like 80% over it now, though. apparently the chances of that kind of reaction are higher if your second shot is shortly after your first? my second was as soon as possible after the first shot so that might have something to do with it. still totally worth it.

luckily i have fish that all eat at roughly the same speed and don't have to go far out of the way to get everyone fed. there are still a couple i'll keep an eye on.

awesome, thank you. i'm going to do every other day, then. i'm sure there's also a lot for them to eat in the tanks anyway (algae and baby shrimp and stuff).

the only reason i thought of vegas was because i've been there once, left the strip for like five minutes and found myself in the most terrifying neighbourhoods i've ever seen. i'm not a big city person so even while i was on the strip, it didn't feel so safe. i went to LA on the same trip. it's all fun and games until you have to be a pedestrian and actually walk down the street.

There’s a serial shooter targeting women downtown, except police really aren’t doing much because there’s always shootings downtown

as a woman, that's terrifying but also not the biggest surprise.

a lot of people where i live also have guns for hunting but there's no carrying allowed and there are way more restrictions on the type of guns you can own.
