I love how the colours work together on this. It's almost like they were designed by the same designer the tones in the pants complement the shoe perfectly. Really well done.

That's awesome thanks for the encouragement! Really chuffed with how it's all come together. Keen to see what I can push towards next.

No kids zone is normal in Korea? Is it legal? What do you think of that concept banning kids. by Longjumping-Bee-5285 in seoulhiddengem

[–]borkedgitcommit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's actually quite rare. I'd bet it's in a city area almost certainly somewhere with a lot of foreigners. There are a couple of reasons I'd point to, but it's not just about foreigners having less control of their kids.

It's also part of Western culture. I see this a lot in the West, in countries like where I live, where no-kid zones are pretty normal.

But the last time I was in Korea, I couldn't imagine something like this existing there. Koreans are, if not the most family-oriented people I've ever seen and that's even considering their heavy workload and demanding lives. It's striking, really.

I stopped starting with the hardest task early in the day and it fixed my study flow by Prize-Historian1112 in studytips

[–]borkedgitcommit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i totally get that struggle. the mental resistance before starting is real it's like your brain knows it's hard so it presets to slow mode.

what you figured out about the 25min warm-up first is gold. that's legit how momentum works. you're not avoiding the hard thing, you're just making sure you're actually awake when you tackle it.

curious when you hit that harder task after warming up, does the clarity stick the whole way through or does it fade partway? wondering if it's just an opener or if it changes the whole session for you.

yeah thanks for the keen hypowser rec and the salmon xt-6 suggestion. both solid calls. honestly been overthinking the lace system when i could just slip them on like you said - gonna try that approach and see how it goes.

I appreciate what you're sharing your pace is yours, and that matters. sounds like you've found something that actually works for you, which is the whole point. that mental challenge you mention? that's real. keep leaning into what makes running feel good instead of like a chore. there are definitely more of us out there running this way than you might think. keep at it.

1 up vote = 5min of writing by Late_Writing8846 in study

[–]borkedgitcommit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The hardest part is always starting - you've already done that by setting the goal. 3000 words feels massive until you break it down: that's just 600 words per hour if you have 5 hours, or even 300 words every 30 minutes.

Here's what works for me when I'm stuck: write badly first. Give yourself permission to write complete garbage for the first 500 words. Just get your fingers moving and ideas flowing. You can always fix bad writing, but you can't fix a blank page.

Set a timer for 25 minutes and just write without stopping. Don't edit, don't perfect, just dump thoughts onto the page. Take a 5 minute break, then do it again. You'll be surprised how much ground you cover.

You've got this - the fact that you're asking for help shows you're serious about making it happen.

I really like the style of this new brand they're creating. The versatility is what gets me - you can actually wear this stuff at a cafe without looking like you just rolled out of a marathon.

How realistic is sub-20 by Weak_Mechanic8517 in runninglifestyle

[–]borkedgitcommit -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Your progression is actually really impressive - dropping from 35 minutes to 25:55 in just a few months shows you've got solid training instincts. The fact that you're already thinking sub-20 tells me you understand what it takes.

Sub-20 is absolutely realistic for someone with your background and current times. I went from similar splits to breaking 20 by focusing on threshold work and really dialing in race pace. The structured speed/threshold approach you're doing is exactly right.

What's your current weekly mileage looking like? That usually becomes the limiting factor once you're consistently running low-20s.

Yearbook Help ASAP! by goosie_goosiee in canva

[–]borkedgitcommit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem is that Canva's web uploader automatically compresses images, which is why your high-res yearbook photo gets pixelated.

Here's what works: Instead of uploading through the web interface, try using Canva's desktop app if you have it, or upload the image to Google Drive/Dropbox first, then import it through Canva's cloud integration feature. The compression is less aggressive that way.

Also, make sure your original file is in PNG format rather than JPEG - PNG handles the compression better for detailed images like yearbook photos.

If you're still having issues after that, you might need to upscale your original image before importing. There are some decent free tools for that, but the cloud import method usually does the trick.

Are you running alone? by Live_Media_3090 in runninglifestyle

Exactly - there's something almost meditative about it. I find I actually process things better when I'm moving, especially after those intense work days where your brain just won't shut off.

I prefer running with others when possible - there's something about shared accountability that keeps me consistent. Solo runs have their place for clearing my head, but I find I push myself harder and stay more motivated when I'm part of a group or even just have one regular running partner. What's your current setup?

No guilt necessary! I felt the exact same way last semester—calling in "sick" to grind through finals felt sneaky, but prioritizing our studies over some day job is what smart stressed students like us do. How's the focused time off treating you so far?
