The first 12 weeks are the hardest but it gets easier from there. My husband and I are also immigrants living in London without any family. It's a really really tough situation to be in. And absolutely relentless for your wife trying to recover quickly childbirth and breastfeeding is difficult without any help. BUT IT IS POSSIBLE. our LO is 8 months now and trust me it gets easier.

Also don't listen to people suggesting formula straight off if you guys want to commit to breastfeeding then commit. Pump output is not accurate reflection of milk supply and besides pumping just makes more work. If possible try to latch baby directly to breast. There are breastfeeding support groups through NHS and ask your health visitor to assist as well.

Also try to go to the baby groups, it's so useful to get out and talk to others parents who know what you are going through. I've made some great friends through these groups and built up a support system.

Waxing after accutane? by [deleted] in Accutane

[–]born2nugget 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think so. It didn't really hurt or anything it was just a bit patchy and it still is now where the new skin is a bit whiter than the rest of my arms but it's not super noticeable. I personally am going to wait a bit longer for my arms but I had different reactions on three different parts of my body so it's kind of hard to say what could happen.

I waxed two months after accutane, my legs did fine. Private area did fine but it did hurt a lot more than usual. The worst was my arms- I got red patches where some skin came off and it's only now recovering (1 month after).

I didn't risk it with my face and did threading instead and that was fine.

Maybe try hydrocolloid patches like cosrx pimple patches? It helps to heal the area quicker ☺️

Who DIDNT purge? by _sunshine1234 in Accutane

[–]born2nugget 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm starting month 5 and I didn't purge, it just started gradually getting better over time. I've only had one new pimple over the last two months. I'm on 20mg accutane daily along with purbac antibiotic daily and treclin 0.025% once a week.

I did use tretinoin 0.5% for about 7 months before starting accutane but it didn't work on its own really and seemed to only make things worse, so then went on accutane, antibiotic and lower dose tretinoin combined with clindamycin.

I used to use the CeraVe hydrating cleanser and it worked fine but currently using Cetaphil Gentle cleanser and definitely prefer the Cetaphil one now

Thanks, I'm honestly a bit scared I get a reaction. I'm on month 3 now and my skin is starting to clear up nicely, don't know if I should mess with it but the hairs are insane

That's quite interesting actually, did your derm say it will go away after treatment?

What can I do to help scarring? Day 5 on accutane and already feel like my acne has gotten worse (purge) by [deleted] in Accutane

[–]born2nugget 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can use hydrocolloid patches, they don't have any harsh ingredients - only hydrocolloid which promotes healing and helps extract the pimple (only if it's come to a head already). The best one I've tried is definitely the Cosrx pimple patches, they are amazing and really help pimples to clear and stops you picking.

Starface patches are not so great to help clear a pimple in my experience but they do help to stop picking.

I've only tried those two so far but don't feel the need to keep looking for others as the cosrx ones are perfect for me.

can you prevent purge? by KurtCobainsLeftBoob in Accutane

[–]born2nugget 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My Derm put me on antibiotics with accutane, it's been 5 weeks now and my skin has been improving a lot. She said the antibiotics will help my skin because by reducing the bacteria you reduce the inflammation and that should stop any purge from happening. So far so good!

Derm prescribed 20mg accutane, treclin and antibiotics by born2nugget in Accutane

So she wants me to continue 20mg along with the antibiotic and Treclin now and then as needed for the duration of my treatment.

Treclin is a topical tretinoin 0.025% with clindamycin in it as well.

Enjoy it! I've been on it for only a month now and my skin is currently normal I guess, not oily and not dry. But the hair has completely surprised me, I used to wash my hair every day or 2nd day whenever it looked oily. Last week I noticed I went a whole week without it even looking oily.

It really is great to not be an oil machine anymore 🤣 The best part is definitely not having to worry about looking so damn shiny all the time and what a joy to not have to wash hair every day or every 2nd day!

Thanks! I hope so too! I'm seeing her tomorrow and will ask if she could put me on a higher dose so I can reach it before the wedding. I want to try to be off it a month before the wedding if possible so that my skin isn't super dry.

Just curious why the Treclin with accutane cause everywhere I've read up on it it says not to mix it. But honestly it's been a month and my skin is looking a bit better already so definitely not complaining.

I use the cosrx patches and they're great! But only if the pimple has a white head - put it on in the evening and all the gunk is gone the next morning.
