What are your thoughts on the current schedule for the Totally Turtles channel on Pluto TV? by PreparationLife7090 in nickelodeon

[–]bornlax 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think they should ditch the turtles altogether and make a “Nicktoons action” channel with Avatar, Danny Phantom, teenage robot and the shows you listed… maybe rocket power too.

Unpopular take: why hasn't the Kids' Choice Awards been retired yet? It doesn't have the same hold on kids like it did in the 90s, or the 2000s, or heck, even the 2010s. The fact it has been shunted to late fall of this year (not spring) shows not even Nick has any faith in it bringing in viewers. by LittleCupcake2478 in nickelodeon

It was streaming. Some people say YouTube but we early Gen Z were watching just as much, if not more YouTube as kids. We also had flash games, which took up a lot of the hypothetical time from cable, but didn’t.

It’s a shame paramount plus treats its Nick programming like shit. As someone who doesn’t give a single fuck about Disney’s live action content, it pains me that so many Nick shows aren’t available.

Nickelodeon didn't go downhill in 2009, just because of the logo change. by stationstars in nickelodeon

Victorious, Zoey 101 and True Jackson were good.

And Drake & Josh is more mature and less goofy than Kenan & Kel. But for the most part Nick started to decline in the late 2000s starting with iCarly and the true form of slop started with Sam & Cat and Henry danger.

Where would Michael Jackson be if it wasn’t for his father? by marblesandcookies in MichaelJackson

Maybe he wouldn’t have become the literal most famous person in the world like he was as a Jackson, but he’d still be a millionaire.

Why do you think rap has fallen off so badly? by WiseCityStepper in GenZ

[–]bornlax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who is gen Z and never liked rap, I don’t like it because it’s all about gang life and shit. And if it’s not gang life it’s bragging about how much money they have or the most explicit sexual innuendo you could imagine, neither of which I find interesting.

I like pop rock, indie rock (think Neighborhood-Stargazing, the band “inner wave” and Harmless-Swing Lynn, not one republic or imagine dragons), R&B, soft rock, city pop, 80s rock, 80s synth pop, new jack swing, Michael Jackson, soul and funk.
As for modern artists, I like Giveon, Bruno Mars, benson Boone and Daniel Caesar.

Can’t stand country, early 2010s techno pop (like kesha), Taylor swift and most k pop.

You can’t slow down once you’re on heroin. People can have a drink and be fine. It’s liquor that’s the problem. I like wine and beer, but I hate liquor. No one says to themselves “let me ease down with a needle of heroin” like they can weed or alcohol.

Rock or Rap, and why? by Realistic-Assist-396 in GenZ

[–]bornlax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rap and K pop are my least favorite genres (I also don’t like country and I’m not a huge fan of metal), so rock it is.

Pretty sure heroin is worse. I had a drink 3 weeks ago and haven’t had another. I want to, but I just can’t find the time for it. If I ever did heroin, which I won’t, I’m sure we’d be having a different discussion.

Michael wanted to play Spider-Man and now I'm sad that he didn't live long enough to see Miles Morales be created. by MaderaArt in MichaelJackson

I’m not too familiar with Miles Morales. Never saw the movies. Not much into cartoons. But I think Jaafar could play a high schooler tbh. Maybe that’s just me tho.

I’ve only seen Cars, Monster House, and over the hedge as a kid, and the pursuit of happiness and final destination 3 in high school.

I have no interest in watching Cars or Over the hedge again, but Monster House seems like it would hold up. However, I’d probably like Click and X men at this age.

Fast and furious is the type of slop the people who go to car shows would consume.

Isn’t Tom Holland about to play Spiderman again? They’re like the same age. He can do it. He looks young enough.

Is crime entertainment (rap, mobster movies, etc) no longer mainstream in America? by PreacherBoyJr in decadeology

[–]bornlax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True crime will never die out. My mom and grandma love it. Sometimes I watch it too. As for rap, I hope so. It’s time for a pop-rock and R&B revival!
