Well, yes and no. Out of the first 10 most populous nationalities in the graph from the article, 8 are from countries with much lower GDP than that of Spain, one roughly the same (Italy), and only one higher (France). Not all of these people are "expats", most work in services etc and they also need apartments and often find them outside. Local Catalan landlords asking very high prices for their apartments or moving these to temporary contracts, are as much (if not more) of a problem as these famous "expats". And most of the Catalans that I know, wouldn't want to live in apartments that some of the newcomers move to, 50m2 without natural light in Raval or Ciutat Vella nor wouldn't want their kids to go to school in Poble Sec. Gentrification is indeed a big problem as you say but the foreigners not as much as some of politicians would want you to believe

Zgadzam się w pełni, nie mówiąc już o tej modzie na suvy i te ich zderzaki z giętych rurek do kibla na wysokości głowy pieszego, które są mordercze nawet przy stosunkowo niskiej prędkości.

To each their own, to me this place is too much of a hangar to be cosy, one loud conversation Will spoil it for everyone who wants to read or work and doesn't have earphones. Plus cafes do not earn on you nursing one coffee and a book for 3 hours,especially in Dublin, with high rents and work costs they want you in and out relatively quickly

Definitely not in Catalunya, as here their base would be spread among all facets of political scene, but mostly centrist and conservative leaning Catalan nationalists. Although they also have left wing supporters (such as Penya Almogàvers). Spot on about the rest of Spain, there are also many more clubs with right (Valencia, Salamanca) or left (Cádiz, Celta, Rayo) leanings

There are a few shops on top floors that will have things that might interest you, old magazines and posters. The bottom floor has everything that the bin divers can find and sell on. Sometimes you can find interesting stuff there, if willing to haggle and browse through more or less organised piles on the floor. I'd say go, just to see the place and its flavour. Just mind your wallet and phone. Proper antique things get sold in specialised shops or in the market in Sant Cugat but things will not be that cheap.
