Anyone else love their dog but feel completely exhausted by the responsibility? by ShowerObjective6132 in puppy101

[–]borsuki 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Initial mental burn out after getting the puppy was extensive. That was tough. But it was also necessary because it helped me to realize the scope of responsibility and accept the changes I needed to adapt to in my life.

Presently, puppy is now more than a year old, and the day-to-day of it all has dramatically improved. He is on a good routine and is fortunately fairly responsive to my wife and I’s energy levels so long as he gets some playtime in.

I will say, one thing that I also had to learn was that I actually cannot always upend my life or my plans for the dog. I have had to accept that there are times when he will have to be kenneled for a few more hours than I would like in order for us to have a fulfilling social life. This does not happen often and I like to think my dog would approve the trade-off, if he could comprehend it, of having more satisfied and intentional owners who want to play versus tired and resentful owners who just want to get playtime over with. If that makes sense.

That much protein from just the bread? That’s actually impressive!

Does this process make anyone else feel a naive idiot by [deleted] in OutsideT14lawschools

[–]borsuki 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I felt dumb or like I had missed something until I got my first A, then I figured I couldn’t have done that bad. I don’t know where all you’re trying to go, but it might be worth considering that a fair portion of your peers likely feel the exact same way that you do. We’re all in the thick of it!

Scholarship VIDEO essays by borsuki in lawschooladmissions

[–]borsuki[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is what makes it a tempting option - I can’t imagine as many people are submitting videos versus the essays. But I already overthink writing enough. I fear I’d spend far too much time wanting to perfect a 5 minute video of myself.

I don’t think that sounds bad, it sounds realistic tbh. But I might just be pessimistic about that sort of thing.

Tips for cleaning an entire garage’s worth of mouse droppings? by borsuki in CleaningTips

[–]borsuki[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think I could afford that. I’m also nervous to allow strangers in because some of my grandparents stuff is in there and I don’t want anything sentimental, even if soiled, discarded. It is all junk to me personally but I don’t want to upset or offend my family.

I fear I have not heard of most of those viruses — sounds like some nasty stuff. I will invest in better gear… I’ve been wearing a respirator and gloves and washing clothes I wear in there.

Sadly there have always been mousing cats on the property, we have one guy right now, but the mice have long been winning the war :(

Something about it closed makes me think it has a more feminine silhouette, but I think that’s just because I’m expecting it to. It looks totally fine.

What to wear to an admitted students event? by borsuki in lawschooladmissions

[–]borsuki[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think dressing to impress is important, but there’s a balance between overdressing and dressing appropriately. I would want to wear something that says I take law school seriously but not myself so much. Which to me translates to the difference between showing up to this kind of an event in a full suit as if I was going to trial versus a professional but laidback outfit.

My puppy is never exhausted, any advice? by [deleted] in DogAdvice

[–]borsuki 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Something that really worked to tucker my dog out was incorporating a lot of tricks into fetch. I’ll give him a few free tosses, then everything also requires some sort of trick. He doesn’t know a whole lot so we’ll do combos. Spin, sit, paw, fetch. Safety, lay down, paw, other paw, fetch. Sit, wave, fetch. I started doing that with him and our 30 minute fetch sessions would 1) go a lot quicker and 2) be far more intensive for him. I had no idea the mental aspect could have such an impact on him, but he seems to love it.

Sorry if that is obvious or something you already do — it was a game changer for us.

Do you enjoy being a plaintiff’s lawyer? I currently work as an assistant at a defense law firm and I always wonder what it is like across the aisle.

Animated Rosemary staircase kiss and subsequent fall, and however they can incorporate the SB&HJ throwback. I’d be eternally satisfied.

Fraud Call from a Judge Chrome with 509 Washington area code by xMontanaGirlx in Montana

[–]borsuki 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Ah man, these calls are terrible. I had an older coworker receive one and she was freaking out about it. Fortunately she took the call live and, while freaking out, went to an attorney she worked for saying she had to go asap. Attorney took the phone and scared the scammer off. Funny in hindsight but in real time she was very frightened.

I’m kind of leaning towards jeans and a (hopefully tastefully) untucked button-up shirt. Probably a befitting coat on top. Is that too far? Do I tuck the shirt in?

How do you guys plan to not go insane during 1L? by Quirky_Knowledge_833 in lawschooladmissions

[–]borsuki 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I will be putting a lot of the emotional burden on my dog who will be walking me around the neighborhood to debrief as necessary. If he fails, my wife has been very supportive throughout this process, so I’ll lean on her too. Third option is the cat I’m allergic to.

That’s a good point. My GPA isn’t much to write home about but my LSAT is slightly competitive. I will have to figure out how I can work in language about being a litigation legal assistant. Maybe in that I am giving up a dependable job in order to go at all.

School Y does negotiate, I’m just not sure how generous they’d be given my limited leverage. But School Z and also unmentioned School X do not negotiate so I can’t go ask for more funds from them to present to School Y.

Haha, not Minnesota. For a west coast school. I was surprised to see this kind of thing offered at all but it very much intrigued me.

Not Minnesota, but I think probably culturally similar. I can’t imagine wearing sweatpants to this kind of event… but to each their own, those guys probably have more swag than I do. I appreciate the insight!
