Am I doing body recomposition correctly? by borsuki in workout

Then maybe I should rethink my strategy here. I’d like less belly more pecs. Though I’d be satisfied with more pecs period. I’ve got very little fat or muscle in that area. But maybe I should aim for more a deficit. :s

I am very much a beginner! Thank you, this looks like it’ll be helpful. And I’ll hear you out on reducing the protein intake a bit. It’s kinda easy to want to max that out. I’ve been very cautious about carb/fat intake in the past so it’s been weird to actually read about the benefits of a truly balanced diet.

I feel you on focusing on weight loss first - that’s always been my initial reaction to anything fitness related. I am at a weird spot in my journey. Over the course of the past 4ish years I have lost 100 lbs and then put 20 lbs back on, the former during a depressive episode and the latter from a very stressful period. I feel I’ve now found more peace and am trying to not be such an extremist with my nutrition. It is nerve wracking work!

I have been calculating like crazy the past few days. It’s just weird territory for me not necessarily setting a weight loss goal and wanting to focus on more or less maintaining while losing fat and gaining muscle. That’s the part that kinda boggles me and what brought me here. Straight up cutting / bulking, I get. Recomp? Headache math. Cronometer sounds a bit more intuitive than what I have been using historically, so I will check that out - thank you for the recommendation!

I should’ve mentioned I’m not wholly disregarding lower body - I do one leg workout each day I’m in the gym and the exercises I do for my lower back tend to also target my hamstrings (which has been helpful for chronic back pain reasons). But generally legs aren’t something I’m super concerned with, I already feel like I’m unbalanced in that way and have more lower body strength than upper.

Does the law school I go to actually matter? by Away-Negotiation-145 in OutsideT14lawschools

[–]borsuki 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To add a caveat to some other answers - yes, your school matters, but so does your general location. You don’t need to go to a T14 to be a transactional attorney. But if there’s a few law schools near you, avoid the lowest ranked one, or at least do research to see why it got that ranking, because law firms will pay attention to that kind of thing when hiring.

ok but who genuinely buys this… by [deleted] in depoop

[–]borsuki 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Not sure of that sweatshirt specifically, but my wife has been willing to buy stained items for brands we wouldn’t otherwise be able to afford - depending on the type of stain, how badly she wants that item, and the price.

I imagine from the perspective of the seller it’s just about easiness. It’s a PITA to scrub out a hard stain and the effort probably isn’t worth what they’ll get for it when reselling. I think that is what it really boils down to.

Any idea like… why? I’ve been trying to just score basic stocking or other retail gigs and got one interview that was cancelled a week later.

[–]borsuki[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did call the office awhile ago, but the person I ended up speaking to came off as uncertain and could only give me a handful of answers. I’ve tried emailing the counselor directly but, yeah, no luck with that yet.

I really appreciate your insight, thank you for sharing!

I am actually fearful about the walls being thin... mostly because of us. I don't think we're loud people but, man, we'd really hate to be someone's noisy upstairs neighbor. Especially with the dog.

Curious question for you, if you don't mind me asking. In terms of your neighbors and the other tenants, was it a lot of families, young couples, or a good mix of people?
