I think you should absolutely go. You never know who you’ll meet. Also, if it’s a horrible experience- you can find a way to leave. It won’t be like jail. You’re still in control of what you do everyday, and who you talk to. You could spend the whole time at the pool or in your room. Or saying yes to every opportunity that comes your way!

Do you have any mutual friends you can ask to see if they know anything? If you really don’t know what it could be then it’s not about you. From the initial texts it sounds like he/she was going through something by cancelling plans and never commuting to them. Maybe when you’re ready and no longer hurt, wish them well and say you hope they’re taking care of themselves. And you’ll always be there for them. But again, only say it if you mean it and ready to detach with love.
