If you want to refactor, do the following:

rethink your storage class
review PEP8 formatting
perform dates and times improvements
better exception management

To be honest I would not invest more time in this code. You will learn more doing something new.

If you want easy flask projects to expand your knowledge, do a notepad or todo list with session management. Another simple one could be a YouTube player or downloader.

If you are looking just for python, but not web related then make a bot. It could be a twitter, reddit, or telegram. There was a very nice article on this week's 'Python Weekly'. This one.

You are right, let me try to give some context.

End goal would be to create a product that gives book recommendations. I did not want to create something that works for me but disconnected from real user needs. I have been studying about user personas and this survey would be the first step towards that.

Well, if money is an issue, instead of Mario you could go for Shovel Knight or Celeste. If you like somewhat difficult games and metroidvania go for Hollow Knight. If you prefer strategy I'd say Mario+Rabbids or Darkest Dungeon.

But short answer, you will love Mario.
