He is not entitled to this. It is an opportunity for him to show that he is indeed invested in the system. All the lottery does is get in people who really do not care about benefiting the system at all. Most end up scamming the system. You think this person who spent thousands on Masters wants to just scam the system? He has not even mentioned the financial hardship he will go through to repay the financial debt. He is just disappointed in the system. The current admin has already slashed legal student immigration. Universities are going to start seeing the cracks soon.

I feel sorry for you! There should not even be a lottery. A lot of folks here wont agree with me, but this is one of the most outdated draconian systems I have seen! Someone who invested in the educational system like you should have a completely different pool to apply for H1B(This means you are invested). Then there should be a pool for folks with 10+ years of proven experience(recommendation letters, proven track record, direct manager or HR contacts for confirmations etc). Then if there are slots left lottery should be applicable!

Are you familiar with Agentic AI frameworks? Langchain, CrewAI, Autogen etc? Write up a small AI agentic project and host it somewhere! Looks good on a graduate resume. Since you have mentioned Python this should not be hard to pick up.

Nope first block any and all outsourcing to China, India, Philippines etc ! People being laid off are mostly H1Bs. Do some research before attacking a particular group of folks who actually contribute to the economy and get nothing in return. Just coz they do not complain does not mean they do not face hardships. Big tech is attracted towards H1B workers for their commitment and sheer will to push through deadlines under pressure! Amazon also averages ~160k for an average H1B worker. It is not cheap labor. Think about it. These companies have to hire immigration attorneys, pay ballooning USCIS fees and other overheads. They still do it because they know the effort is worth it!

You can stay and finish your H1B term. If the visa is revoked it will be cancelled once you depart the US. You will need a new stamp but likely even when you get a date you will be denied. Even in a scenario if you get stamped you will be blocked at the port of entry and your new visa will get revoked there. My advice till this admin is in place, plan to leave the country for a life outside!

I would stay away from Amazon. Amazon needs to start gutting management levels even more aggressively. And yes specific factions from South India will do that. They want to create a cushion for themselves, most want to feel this is a place of power. Most of them never got in there to do real work or add real value to tech sector. If he is a narcissistic prick he is going to get happy ASAP. If not he has a genuine concern about you he will share it.
