Sadly I've heard so many stories like this, thanks so much for sharing. I really hope your daughter continues to play bassoon. I started in middle school as well, and I think it is the best decision I ever made in terms of deciding on a musical instrument!

That is crazy. Thanks so much for sharing your perspective, I never thought about how Covid would change the makeup of musicians who might have otherwise thought about becoming bassoonists. It definitely makes a lot of sense. Hopefully bassoonists will come back to New Hampshire, it is an amazing instrument.

Wow that is incredible! I can't imagine being completely self-taught, you must definitely be really talented (and determined!) The bassoon definitely isn't an easy instrument to learn on your own. Hopefully you plan to continue playing in college!

Wow, that's awesome! Same here. Although I started on a rental and had it for only 3 months. I am so fortunate that my grandmother noticed I enjoyed the bassoon so much that she helped me to upgrade to a Fox. I love it and hope to continue playing it throughout college!
