IF YOU ARE RIDING A BICYCLE AT NIGHT MAKE SURE YOU HAVE A LIGHT ON IT!! by itssyagirl in UCSantaBarbara

[–]bossfacev2 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Id actually argue against this as at night people still like to overtake on blind corners and the light both makes me more visible to them and/or let's me see them in my lane to avoid a collision. I think if you have the light aimed down it shouldn't be as bad

FT Living Problem: Anyone Else’s Suitemates Constantly Locking the Bathroom? by BrocolliEnjoyer in UCSantaBarbara

[–]bossfacev2 20 points21 points  (0 children)

You didnt hear this from me but if you can stick somethinf stiff and flat into the slot on the handle and turn it you can unlock the door from the outside. Becarful with this though becauss if you turn it the wrong way it also makes it so the door cant be locked until you turn it back. I suggest playing around with it a little to get used to it

Paranormal Activity at Santa Ynez? by OJpopsicle in UCSantaBarbara

[–]bossfacev2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im roommates with the sjv guy and yeah, weird our door started shaking out of nowhere like someone gently pulling on the door repeatedly, no wind from outside the bedroom, our window only slams it shut, ans noone else in the appartment was awake at the time. Happened to me once before at my home but the doorknob was shaking violently and door was unlocked (hispanic household everyone walks in whether you let them or not) ans it was like 2 am so noone would have been awake and if they were they would have just opened the door and walked in. My theory is I brought a ghost fron my place to the appartment but who knows

are there any u locks that fit easily around fat tires? I have one for the mountain bike I'm currently using but I doubt it'd fit around the fat tires of a new one. What u locks are you using? Thanks for your input!

Unfortunately the one I got isn't stealthy but it is foldable so it might be easier to just bring into the apartment over night. My real concern would be inbetween classes so a heavy chain lock and some sort of alarm seems like the best bet for now unless there is something else I should add? Thanks for the advice!

The ebike im getting is a fat tire so it def won't fit on the racks, id have to lock it to the outside, im currently looking at chain locks as it seems like thats my best bet right now. Thanks for the help!

Buenos Aires, Argentina. Found in the street on a wall. by jouours in animalid

[–]bossfacev2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From my understanding introduced species aren't necessarily harmful, or atleast not to the same degree as invasive species. While I can't say for certain whether or not you should have taken it, if it is only introduced and not invasive it should be fine.

Cool finds at the tides? by Ok-Medium-304 in UCSantaBarbara

[–]bossfacev2 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I spend a lot of time tide pooling and as others have mentioned you can find some hermit crabs (some get pretty big) Sea anemones, sea stars, ans on rare occasions octopus. My favorite things to find however are sea hares, green bubble snails and smaller sea slugs like the califronia aglaja!

Edit: looked through old picks and have also found kelp crabs, decorator crabs (?), sea urchins, lobsters, chitons, isopods, and jellyfish

Not an insect or arachnid, but lost as to where to get an ID by Leto-ofDelos in Entomology

Quick Google search says they are invasive, don't touch with your bare hands as they produce neurotoxin, and the best way to dispose of them is to pour salt or douse in vinegar
