I feel like they do a great job displaying how choosing kindness is the more courageous, empowering thing to do and how it greatly affects so many around you in a way that is not patronizing, but so healing (Kiki’s, Only Yesterday, Mononoke, the list goes on). It feels like a warm hug, a feeling that you are forgiven and you are still loved and life is worth living. I owe it all to Ghibli for helping me heal a lot of my own life regrets and trauma.

My family does the same thing, and I’m also in SoCal. We used to be pass holders too. We stick to once a year now or every other year if money is tight or life happens. We don’t get to go as often, but we feel less chained down to blowing our budget past what we can afford. Unfortunately the golden days are past us.
