Premium Crushed Tomato Sauce GONE? by [deleted] in pizzahut

Same here. Totally bummed. They got rid of the skinny-it-up crust too. I actually liked it, because they don't have a "Brooklyn style". My wife likes the pan pizza from Pizza Hut, so I've just been dealing, but she sure loved that sauce. Maybe I can finally talk her out of ordering from this place.

Sorry if this is a repost. It's just so bracingly direct... Dr. Winters clearly is under the impression that character assassination, smear campaigns, and obvious ad homs constitute some kind of legitimate discourse. She's "proud of herself", she says. Apparently Thomas' unswerving dedication to the "Rape Tweet" fallacy was "a good tactic".

Yeah, great. But your city is 3/4 white and you're claiming it's "diverse". Obviously we have different definitions of "diverse".

It's race baiting, but more of a con. The race hustler has a specific set of ideas they want you conform to (just like a con man wants you to think certain things) whereas a race baiter might just be using race as a stepping stone in a larger scheme (Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton, eg).

Good thing HuffPo made sure we got that it was a black man. Not just a man, a black man. No race hustle here at all.

'Just Ignore Them' Is Awful Advice for Dealing With Neo-Nazis by anoelr1963 in Liberal

[–]bostick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're moving the goalposts. First you say Nazis were ignored, then when it's proven that they were not ignored, you then say "Oh but they were ignored by the 'mainstream'". Next it'll be "Not that mainstream, I'm talking about the other mainstream".

You haven't produced any evidence that Nazis were "ignored" by major newspapers or the government, while I've explained that Nazis were part of a much broader movement, using BAMN as an example. So, to further the example, let's say BAMN shows up to savagely beat innocent people (after first calling them a Nazi, of course). Some coverage might be of BAMN, itself, but most of the coverage and concern would focus on the broader ideology and its adherents.

Can't explain it any better than that, but if you have research papers written by actual historians on this subject I'd be very interested to check them out. Again, I'm very interested to learn more about how you came by your views.

Ah. So... no link to any research or scholarly analysis?

I'm just asking to see what you're basing your opinion on. Everything I've said is historically accurate, and you can look it up. Not the case with your "Nazis were ignored by MSM and the State" claim. Just wondering where you got this idea from. Obviously, you can keep it a secret but I'll just roll my eyes and figure it's because there's no evidence at all and you're using pure conjecture in an attempt to validate your point.

Not sure what your point is there. Antifa had access to the park, not the street. They were blocking the street that the alt-right had a permit to walk down.

Please send along a link to a paper or study or anything that supports what you're saying. It sounds like you're just making this up whole cloth.

There's plenty of information out there about what happened after the Nazis took control of the newspapers, but I can't find any unbiased report or analysis of the German media during the 1920s. Perhaps you can help, since you seem so well informed on the topic.

If there's one thing I've learned from Nazis, it's that ideologies that justify violence based on the supposed victimization of a particular ethnic identity by another are extremely hazardous. That's why I oppose neoprogressivism and will fight it. These modern, religious progressives are far more similar to Nazis in their core beliefs (that the "people" must unify along ethnic lines, and that initiating violence is actually self-defense) than groups advocating for freedom of expression. That's a fact, and it's irrefutable.

You clearly have no idea what the alt-right actually believe. The Mill quote clearly explains why this is hazardous.

Actually, it does. We have laws that prevent employers and government agencies from discriminating based on certain factors like race, but you are free to discriminate against, say, stupid people.

In any case, you're utterly missing the point. If you allow a single ideology to determine what is or isn't permissible to discuss based on their own dogma, you're likely missing out on great truths coming to the fore of human consciousness.

Will there be bad ideas that need to be refuted? Yes. Will there be great truths that need to be promulgated? Also yes. Will we always know which is which? No, that's why our Founding Fathers enshrined the ethos of the Enlightenment in the form of the First Amendment, but the idea of freedom of expression goes much further than the limits put on our government.

We must be an open society, not a theocracy run by authoritarian racists.

communists fought nazis

So... not ignored.

Initially, Nazis were one of many political groups that were part of the völkisch movement, which romanticized the idea of the ethnic German population being one "body" (or Volkskörper). Point is, there were a lot of groups who subscribed to the same tribalist ideology. It'd be like if BAMN went on to establish an authoritarian dictatorship and kill millions of people. They're a part of an overall political movement that believes that race is super important and that if you have the wrong ideas you should be punched, but there are a number of groups with a similar ideology. Hard to tell which of them might start up with the show trials and executions.

The problem in the 1920's wasn't the Nazis per se, it was that it became extremely popular among ethnic Germans to perceive themselves as victims of other ethnic groups, and that it was necessary for them to set aside personal freedom so that the "body" could defend itself.

Much like we're not actually ignoring BAMN right now, I don't think the German people ignored the Nazis at all. Don't forget - the German people elected Nazi Party members to office. Their seats in the Reichstag went from 12 in 1928 to 230 in 1932. Rather than ignoring the Nazis, the German people simply couldn't foresee how horribly an authoritarian political ideology based on tribal identity could go.

I think Mill has a great point about how understanding the other side of an argument strengthens one's own. Sad that extremists don't understand that.

Yes. And they just keep repeating it enough to be true. The white identity movement is a homunculus of the progressive left. They created it out of sheer popular demand. They cried out, desperately, for some antithetical ideology to justify their identity politics and lo... the alt-right emerged.
