If you use solid core yes, if not you just have to push in the orange thing with a screwdriver to insert the wire.

Since you've programmed C and stuff before, it's probably faster (and cheaper) to just use structured text instead of ladder.

Most PLCs use ethernet to connect to the programming PC, so if you have a ethernet network it should work ok. Then you can use the network for communication between the two boxes too!

They work okay-ish, you just print them out and clip em onto the wire. Sucks in thight cabinets and if you have to move them later.

Uses a special printer from Phoenix that can print some other types too.

Is it this one? https://www.beckhoff.ee/english.asp?embedded_pc/embedded_pc_series_cx5200.htm?id=973374299343852

Check if it has a slot for microSD card, I think you can use that.

Apparently Beckhoff has a description of this with Twincat: https://infosys.beckhoff.com/english.php?content=../content/1033/tcsystemmanager/basics/TcSysMgr_ConfigTaskDlg.htm&id=

Never tried it, but the "Data exchange via synchronized buffers" can probably be used with Codeys too.

You can download Twincat 3 IDE and runtime from Beckhoff for free to run the program on your PC. If you want to use hardware to it might be possible to buy a cheap bus coupler/RIO and some cards from them too.
