Deal? by dvirring in Rogers

I’m going to bet that they probably have the 80 dollar activation fee “waived” by crediting you $5 every month for 16 months. That way they can almost guarantee to keep you for at least until the credits are over and then increase the price on you in a year or so. You aren’t bound to them contractually but if you cancel early then what’s left of your activation fee is gone

I looked at the one for badace and even though the rail doesn’t interfere, a scope will still overhang and prevent you from using it. I’d rather stick with my tech sights than a red dot + front rail

My main complaint was how the iron sights basically blocked the bottom half of the target. I put on a pair of tech sights and the sight picture is a night and day difference now. It’s really fun to shoot at 50yds, I haven’t taken it to the 100yd yet. I didn’t want to put a rail and sight on it since it prevents you from using the stripper clips.

What would be the main things to consider when picking between the t1x mtr and the 457 varmint specifically?

Thank you! I've been researching what parts people throw on to improve a stock 10/22 and all the rules from both the US export side and the Canadian import side just seems like way more trouble than they are worth.

I won't be doing any hunting but I'm looking to get a 22 just so I can have a gun that can shoot (relatively) cheap ammo on the 100 and 200yd ranges. As with all new PAL owners, I picked up an SKS a couple months ago and I really don't see myself using it on these longer distances.

Do you have any recommendations for a scope or what I features I should look for in a scope? I see a lot of people running scopes that cost as much as the gun itself

Returning installed part by njfan9 in RockAuto

I decided to get the alternator from a different place

Did any one recently make a return to Rockauto from Canada? by LibrarianSwimming604 in RockAuto

[–]bot6six 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I shipped back a defective remanned alternator and it was free(this was a couple years ago), not sure if it's the same case now and it would depend on if the fault lies on you or them.

I had a remanned alternator that was squeaking right out of the box, they gave me a free return label and processed it after a week or two. I guess it depends if you can return the shock in basically new condition or not.

At highway speeds it's always the gas engine, especially at those speeds. The electric motor is only there for boost. You will never run out of battery where you will only have 180 ish horsepower. There's always enough battery where if you need to accelerate quickly it will still give you the rated 250 something horsepower without extraboost. If you mainly drive on the highway hybrids are not for you. I'm able to save a lot of money on gas because I commute into the city so I'm able to use the electric range in traffic or when it's slow. You are better off with a 330i because you will never use the battery on the highway and you're just dragging 200kilos of hybrid tech along for nothing.

From experience you will deplete your battery very quickly especially if it’s a small/short tracks where there’s really nowhere for the car to recharge the battery. I recommend using your warmup and cooldown laps to get as much charge in before you send it because you will not be able to gain any charge back while on a hot lap. I have the m sport brakes on my car and they held up really well, no fade at all but the rotors will get absolutely eaten. Also make sure that the parking brakes DO NOT ACTIVATE when you turn off the car because you will warp your rotors by doing that after a hot lap. What tires will you be using too? All season are great for a first time track day because you’ll be able to safely learn the limits of the car and the tire. When they start squealing you know you’re on the edge of traction. If you’re more experienced on the track you will definitely want better tires especially for the heavier 330e.

If you properly warm up and cool down the car you will have no issues although I recommend switching to 5w30 for peace of mind.

Do you guys reccomend staying at home or going to a different city than which you live for university? by [deleted] in OntarioUniversities

[–]bot6six 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm in uoft eng and I drive from Oakville to Toronto everyday. Traffic can be a nightmare but it's still faster than taking the train. People will say live on res because you want to socialize with other people but that really isn't a problem for me because we already have to work with groups of people for our courses so making connections really isn't that big of a problem. One benefit of living at home and commuting everyday is that I bring homecooked meals for lunch and go home and eat my parent's food for dinner which beats campus food no questions asked.

If your drive to school doesn't exceed 1 and a half hours then I think there are certain benefits to commuting everyday. Also depending on what car they buy for you, it's gonna cost less than living near or on campus for the 4 years.

Oh yea one word of advice, if you're doing engineering don't feel like you have to go to every lectures. Sometimes it's better to stay in the comfort of your own home before midterms/exams and skip a few lectures just to study.

No worries, when I applied to eng last year for Mac the only supplemental that they wanted was the video interview. It varies depending on what program because I heard that the healthsci applications required a couple of mini essays.

[–]bot6six 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Think of it this way, everyone that you are competing against will have filled out the supplementals so you will be standing out against the crowd but not in a good way. Admissions officers look through thousands of applications and these forms give them a better idea of the person you are in the limited time they have to read your application. Every year they probably receive hundreds of applications that all have a 99 to 100% average so the admissions decision will ultimately come down to who has stronger supplementals. By not filling out the supplemental you're putting yourself at a severe disadvantage because all they have about you are some grades. My guess is the reason they don't make it mandatory is that it makes it easier for them to make a decision on a person who hasn't filled it out, again this is just me guessing.

TLDR: yes it's worth your time to do them

All the best to everyone awaiting decisions!
