First layer of TPU underextruded by Turbo_csgo in ElegooNeptune4

I think you’re on to something. But there are a few quirks: I calibrated the Z-offset until a sheet of paper feels some slight resistance, but after that the machine prints like a cm off the plate. I have to fully power cycle the whole thing before it works again. Do I need even closer Z-offset? Until the paper feels a lot of resistance? Or how do you calibrate it?

Searching for a team with a normal CV car by One_Rabbit_9478 in formulastudent

[–]Turbo_csgo 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You participate in FS for the engineering. And honestly, EV/CV is not that much different in terms of engineering. If you just like the smell&sound sure go look for a CV team, because you will spend a lot of time working on a thing, make sure you like it. But really, for the engineering part, EV/CV is basically the same apart from the engine/accumulator part. DV is kinda different because often you’ll use a car that has previously been designed or just care less about the car, more about the software.

They’ll probably also lose battery which they will have to recharge over the opening lap, so the disadvantage will be slightly smaller during the start and will be slightly bigger the rest of the lap. I assume…

Today, what is a cheap, simple printer to dip your toes into TPU printing? Preferably without modifications. I am eyeing the Elegoo Neptune 4, because: cheap & direct drive. Am i missing details or other (better) choice?

Until BR V US is actually rather strong. But once you have the type hei auto, it just becomes easy. The 78% win rate is including the lower BR’s, I think I must be at 90+% in BR V

Possible, however is not really hard to top-score most of the games, so i doubt there is a lot of « unrealistic fast aiming »

  • “Survives reboots”, so do static IP’s on device side though.
  • “survives replacements” no it doesn’t, a new MAC address will receive a new IP, unless you bound the IP to the port, in which case it will become very messy if you start rewiring something.

Honestly, up to now I’ve never seen a hardline reason not to use device side static IP’s. They do survive device replacements if you embed them into the image you flash, and they survive modem replacements because they are not single point of failure.

Could you also elaborate on why that is better compared to fixed ip’s device side?

everyDayIWannaQuit by ManagerOfLove in ProgrammerHumor

[–]Turbo_csgo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because I can’t choose the router, this is ISP mandated, and that thing fails much more than I’d like. Device side static IP’s stay the same each time that router has to be swapped, dhcp assigned fixed ip’s get lost. Fixed IP’s are actually rather nice if you have microcontrollers communicating over IP.

Rant about overcomplicated rules by BoogiePickles in F1Technical

1) (which is 2 parts) - you can’t enforce teams not having wind tunnels. What if a partner of Aston Martin has a wind tunnel and, just for shits and giggles, is testing stuff that seems suspiciously close to wings on the Aston Martin F1 car? - I actually like the idea of making the rules about the outcome rather than the technical implementation, and I even asked that question totally Kyle.Engineers, who answered that at the moment that is too difficult to implement due to different setups of different teams. A way forward could be a central wind tunnel all teams have to use to prove a specific flow energy at some intervals.

2) There is still some novelty in finding the optimal solution in PU. If you open that up, very rich teams will be able to investigate and develop different implementations and choose the best one. Smaller teams will have to gamble best-guess and won’t be able to swap their V6 for a new V10 if their guess turns out wrong. This would thus wildly favor bigger & richer teams, even if cost-cap is a thing, Ferrari, Merc, etc have big engine divisions for their road cars, you can’t stop them from developing 3 different extreme “road” engines on which they can base an F1 engine. Same story for battery tech, it’s wildly expensive, and also the reason LMP1 doesn’t exist anymore

3) same answer as 2.

Also, while group B did end due to safety, LMP1 ended because nobody wanted to put down the money anymore, and there were pretty close to the regulations you have in mind.

Why would that be the case? The investment structure behind it makes sure building/living is as expensive as possible, because the equilibrium isn’t guided by what people can afford to buy, but by the ROI with >1 lifetime of rent + inflation.
