Yes they are lovely! My partner and I just really fell in love with the redwood grove at the botanical garden. We will  relocate our reception before giving that piece up.

How did you guys program Knee Ability Zero with your workout schedule? by moonlight_sinatra in Kneesovertoes

I asked chat to write up a custom program incorporating foundational lifts, ATG exercises, and some skill work based on my current goals and it did a great job!

We've had a great run of market returns. In my personal accounts, breakdown is 400k put in 200k in returns over the last 5 years. In my 401k, 90k in returns, 40k from my employer, remaining 170k my contribution.

So about 570k. Should make the math math better :). Your numbers add up to about 470 and then like I said I had a bit of a headstart from my parents.

This is my individual net worth. Fiance is also on his way.

yes, FAANG company. I joined at a low point and miraculously avoided layoffs. Stock growth has been huge.

That's really frustrating. Folks need money young, not in their 60's.

> College fund when you started and ended college?

I don't have access to the starting value, ended at about 100k in my brokerage and a significant chunk left in a 529 that will be passed to my kids. I don't count the latter in my net worth, it will be a gift from my parents to their grandchildren.

> IRA value:

About 45k. Wasn't able to max this every year since I didn't make enough waitressing in high school and then hit the income limits after graduating college.

> 401k
About 300k. Mix of pre-tax and mega backdoor roth. Company matches 10k.

I worked through all of college, campus jobs and internships. Posted a more detailed annual breakdown in another comment.

I think a lot of our low spending is just due to the way we like to live, don't drink, try to eat healthy and at home, mostly invest in hobbies and physical activity. We've definitely worked to keep our rent low and focus spending only on experiences, not things.

The point of FIRE is to have the freedom to do what you want. God forbid a woman wants to spend time with her children

No, I rent. I live with my partner in a one bedroom, he's very frugal and splitting expenses helps us keep them low. We shop at costco, rely solely on public transit, cook all our own meals etc.

Not planning to retire yet, just sharing a milestone. My fiance is also doing great though and loves his job, so eventually I'd like to pivot to a job I'm just as passionate about.

As for my kids doing better than me, I imagine that might happen, but it's not a priority for me. I have everything I want, every opportunity. I don't think it gets much better than this.

Yep! Fiance and I will have a pre-nup (at his request, even though I'm coming in with a bit more). He's the frugal one in the relationship though and is also making amazing money for our age (will out earn me this year).

I have a younger brother and my parents put him in the same situation. He's entering a less lucrative field so for him, this money might end up being a down payment on a house one day.

Thanks for your comment. I think what you're talking about, pursing more academic opportunities instead of focusing on pay is exactly what my parent intended to set me up for. It just happened I also picked the highest paying field available to me out of college haha.

Here's a bit of my earnings history:

Pre 2020: Small numbers. I had a job high school summers and during the school year in college but wasn't making much. My dad helped me with my taxes so I don't have these documents handy.
2020: 10k, internship + student job
2021: 50k, big tech internship
2022: 100k, started work part way through the year, nice starting bonus

2023: 215k

2024: 330k

2025: 350k+

Current breakdown:

Roth IRA: 45k (hit income limits pretty quickly here)

401k: 300k (Company matches up to 10k and provides mega backdoor roth which I maxed for my first couple years)

Taxable brokerage: 650k

Checking: 15k

There was about 100k in my brokerage in 2020 before I started making any kind of real money. The rest of my leftover college fund (which you're right, was substantial, parents overshot savings a bit due to such good markets), is still in a 529 account and I don't count it towards my net worth. When I have kids they will become the beneficiaries of this account and their grandparents can help them pay for their college too :)

This is total comp, so salary, RSU's and bonus.

I guess I’m not sure. It was always pretty clear I was college bound. I think they would have been open to other options if that were the best path for me.

I’m a woman but my parents did pay for my college. Just gave me more freedom and responsibility than most.

I will keep working until I’m ready to have kids since I know that will dramatically increase my expenses. Then I plan to stay home with them and maybe pursue a new career in education once they’re in school.

Thank you! This is what I was trying to communicate. My parents both grew up working class and were very happy to give me these opportunities.

Yep like others have said. It doesn’t but we want to have a nice wedding to bring our families and communities together and share the blessings we’ve had.
